The Holidays are coming - So what makes a Great Holiday Party?
So many things to celebrate this time of year! Create a great event or party no matter your budget.
There are some givens of creating a great event. The goal is to bring people together and have a fun and engaging event. A theme will help you build the event, guide activities, food, drink and decorations.
Depending on the size of your group, here are a few themes that can be used for almost any holiday:
1) Caroling Party - people love music and love to sing. Just print out some sheet music and you're ready.
2) Casino Nights - Have gifts that guests can purchase with their winnings at the end of the night. Playing games helps keeps people engaged and moving to different locations.
3) Murder Mystery Dinner - you can create a Murder Mystery inexpensively with a box version or go all out and hire a Traveling Troupe. Adults get to dress in costume and play makes believe. How fun!
4) Scavenger Hunt - Have the items all themed for the holiday you're celebrating. Break people into different groups than the ones they came with so people mingle.
I could go on and on but you get the idea. Now that you have a theme you'll need to arrange all the other details.
Location - a home is always nice but a lot of work for the owner and not always practical. If you are going to use an event center - you need to BOOK NOW so you get the date you want. Come by Tennessee Gardens and let us show you what can be done with our space and your budget.
Date and time - there are only so many Saturday nights during the holiday season, so think outside of the box. What about a Sunday afternoon, Thursday early evening or maybe a late start on a Friday.
Food - Food is so important. It's how we celebrate. Make it simple hors d'oeuvres and desserts or an elaborate four course dinner.
Decorations - So much can be done with linens and overlays to create the perfect mood. If working on a budget, use the center piece as a revenue generator - leave an envelope next to the center piece and ask for a donation to whoever takes home the center piece.
Holidays are time for us to celebrate and connect. Get started now, they will be here before you know it.
