Taglines? Who needs 'em?

Sales If you are selling a service, a product or a program, you do.

I know what you're thinking. "Sure, they are cute and sometimes, even funny. But aren't they just empty words?"

Well, to be honest, often, they are. But they don't have to be. And that's the point.

A good tagline, combined with the name of your company, product or service, can convey a lot of critical information in a very short period of time. Specifically, you can tell your audience three things:

  • who you are;
  • what you do; and, most importantly,
  • what's in it for them.
Let's look at some examples. Here's an obvious one--our own:

Adams Jette Marketing + Communications
Compelling ideas. Remarkable results.

This tells potential clients who we are (Adams Jette), what we do (marketing and communications) and what's in it for the client (compelling ideas and, most of all, remarkable results).

Here's another:

Ontario Network of Sexual Assault/
Domestic Violence Treatment Centres

Increasing knowledge. Enhancing care.

This tells potential clients who they are (Ontario Network of Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Treatment Centres), what they do (operate a network of treatment centres) and what's in it for the client (enhanced care).

Can people tell who you are, what you do and what's in it for them just by looking at your name and tagline? If they can, you have a lot less selling to do when they walk in the door.

AJ client honoured as Retailer of the Year

Chefs Marc and Chantal We want to extend our best wishes to our clients and friends, Chefs Marc Miron and Chantal Gagné.

Their business, Cuisine & Passion Gourmet Foods was named Retail Business of the Year this past week by the Orléans Chamber of Commerce. This is quite an accomplishment given the business has been open only 18 months.

Marc Miron spent the last 20 years as the executive chef at some of the finest Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in the world including in Bali, Nevis, and Sydney, Australia. Now, he's come back to share his passion with us. Lucky us here at home!

Congratulations Marc and Chantal, and keep up the great-tasting work!

What our clients are saying...

OFM logo "We have been using Adam Jette's TOUCHpoint newsletter product for several months now. We are extremely pleased with everything from the writing and design to the top-notch customer service--and the results have been fantastic.

"The newsletter itself looks very professional and comes out on time, every time. It doesn't matter what we do at the last minute, we are always accommodated. Perhaps more than anything, it's a very affordable way to save me time--and we can all use more of that!" "

allude, elude -- To allude to something means to refer to it. To elude something is to escape from it. While I would like to allude to examples, they elude me.
