Do you ever have days in your office where you want to do some marketing but don't have any idea of what to do?!
You are not alone. There are a lot of ideas out there but what is best for you? Here is a great blueprint for you to use and you can make it 'just for you'!
There are 8 core marketing strategies.
These are the tried and true, traditional marketing strategies
that are proven to
work over and over again. Choose the strategies that resonate with you the most
and include them in your
calendar of marketing activities in the coming
year.
- Direct mail
- Telemarketing
- Networking
- Trade Shows
- Showcase or Free Service Strategy
- Advertising
- Publicity
- Advocate Strategy - identify 10-25 people who love what you do and would refer others to you and never let 30 days go by without contacting them
Along with those you have an internet game plan and a database strategy.
The important question to ask yourself is not "What can I do?".
The question to ask is "What will I do?" Now you're going to decide if it will be a primary or secondary strategy.
A primary strategy you execute every 30 days and a
secondary strategy you implement periodically (once a year, once a quarter, etc.).
Of the strategies that you picked
decide if it will be a primary or secondary strategy. The magic is in the mix
of strategies.
You then want to
attach a benchmark to each strategy. A benchmark is a number that measures an activity or result.
Here are some examples of marketing ideas with possible benchmarks:
- Give a teleclass each month
- Have a booth at a trade show twice a year
- Get on the local radio once a month
- Go to two networking events a month
- Have a contest (Most paper piles, most shoes in a closet, etc.)
- Send out 100 direct mail postcards a month
Believe it or not your marketing plan is almost done! Now put those ideas into your December and 2010 calendar and then act on them every month.
I have a lot more to say on this subject and the 8 Core Marketing Strategies is the topic of our OrganizersPlus Coaching Program call on December 18. Want to join us?!
