Right now all you need is some quick simple fare and a good bottle of rose. And guess where you can find those? Yea, right here at your locally owned, neighborhood gourmet grocery Salumiere Cesario.

We have just what you need for those nights when its just too hot to cook or you just don't want to fuss over anything. It's summer, go on and enjoy yourself. Come check out what's in the bag!

We are in the process of gearing up for our next Gustiamo so stay tuned here for more information.

Come see what's new on our wine racks! You won't be disappointed!

    Beer

We keep seeking out new beers for all of you beer lovers out there. If there is something that you have had while traveling and cannot find it here in Walla Walla, let us know and we'll seek it out for you and put in on the shelves! In the mean time we will keep bringing in great beers, including the following that are in stock today:
    Duvel
    Saison Dupont
    Foret Organic Saison
    Saison Imperial
    Moinette Brun and Blonde

And, we even sell the fabulous glasses - just like the one in this picture!

    Cheers!

    Cheese

Cheese remains our biggest selling item since day one. Maybe because we store our cheeses in a carefully crafted environment. Maybe because we cut our cheeses to order and wrap them carefully (and not in plastic!). Maybe because we hand select varieties that compliment the food and wine of our community. What ever the reason thank you for continuing to make us your source for cheese in the Walla Walla Valley.

We have just cut into a new wheel of Pleasant Ridge Reserve that is wonderful. This is a cheese that has won best of show at the American Cheese Society twice in 2001 and in 2005.

"Pleasant Ridge Reserve is an original cheese inspired by farmstead cheeses from the alpine provinces of southeastern France. The aging techniques we use were originally developed in the Middle Ages when cheeses similar to Pleasant Ridge Reserve were aged in limestone caves and washed frequently with a brine solution. Washing the rind keeps it free of unwanted microbes and produces a variety of pleasing flavors. Because of the time-consuming hand work involved this practice is rarely used today." The flavours of this cheese are sweet and nutty somewhere between really good Comte and Appenzeller.

Fromager D'Affinois remains our best selling cheese. No surprise as it is brie like in consistency and appearance with richer more buttery like flavors. But it is the way that we take care of it that makes all of the difference. A customer once told me that they had purchased some d'Affinois (as we affectionately call it here) at another cheese retailer. When I asked how it was their reply was "I'll never buy it anywhere else but here again, I get it now." They didn't elaborate and I didn't ask. Come in and see why buying cheese is better here.

And, don't forget that all of our cheeses are stored and aged in the only climate controlled, walk in cheese closet in the Pacific Northwest. Come in and taste why Salumiere Cesario is THE place to buy cheese in Walla Walla.

    Wear your colors. . .
    Salumiere Logo

Are you a "curd nerd" like the rest of us here? Well, it's time to represent by showing off your colors! The official Salumiere Cesario T-Shirts are here and available for sale. Short sleeves, for those warm days, printed with our (soon to be famous) beautiful four color CS logo and emblazoned on the back with our name, and available in both Men's and Women's styles and sizes. We also have our aprons available for sale! Wear your colors and show people what you care about, GOOD FOOD!

    Olive Oil Bar
    Olive Oil Image

Many of you have enjoyed the Olive Oil Bar that we started last June. Well, were going to be adding more olive oils to choose from as well as a 750ml sized bottle.

The 750ml size bottle is your standard size wine bottle, and the original impetus for us to start the bulk bar, as Walla Walla does not have a good glass recycling program. You can now purchase the 750ml bottle size and soon, we hope that you'll be able to bring in your own clean, used wine bottles to fill with olive oil. The 500ml size bottles will be phased out in time (you'll always be able to bring them in to refill) and will be replaced by the 750ml as the new standard. The cost to refill the 500 will stay at $18, and the 750 will be $23. The new bottle will set you back $7 but can always be refilled. We hope to have our two new Olive Oils in the next few weeks. . .stay tuned.

    Need Something?

Salumiere Cesario is Walla Walla's Gournet Grocery not just in name. If there is ever something special you need or want, let us know, we can usually get it for you. Including things like:

Fresh Seafood. We can have fresh fish or any seafood item flown in from Seattle or Portland within a few days.

Foie Gras. We don't carry it, cause we do not think it should be frozen. If you ever need it we can get it, and have it for you fresh.

Truffles. When in season, we can get them from many sources. They are expensive, so be prepared.

Caviar As long as it is not on the endangered animal list we are happy to bring in high grade caviar. Again you get what you pay for so, be prepared.

Any other specialty items that you are having trouble sourcing here in town? Let us know, we are always wiling to go that extra step to provide the best customer service (and the very best in quality) in Walla Walla.

    Produce

Since opening day April 6, 2006 we have been championing local produce. It is always important to support our local farmers whenever possible as they are the stewards of the land, that land that makes up our community. Whenever local produce is in season, we will have some.

Right now we have fresh local greens and cippolini onions as well as stone fruits ready for you to take home and enjoy!

    Gift Items

Looking for that special gift item for that cork dork, curd nerd, or food geek? Well, we probably have it here. From gift bags and picnic sets to cheese tools and serving boards, Salumiere Cesario is your one stop food related shop.

    Gustiamo!
    Italy

We are getting things together for our next Gustiamo event! While we haven't had a Gustiamo in a while, we have been behind the scenes working on a series of events that we think you'll be really excited about, we are! We are currently working with a few wine friends locally and from other places to bring to Walla Walla some really interesting and exciting wine events. Just as a teaser here is a list of upcoming tastings we are currently working on:

Austria Although Austria has been producing great wines for many, many years only a few are being exported to the USA. Most of the Europeans have been keeping the secret to themselves! Ever wondered what Gruner Veltliner is? Or Blaufrankish? Weissburgunder? Well here is your chance to find out all of those things, and more!

Italy While Italy may not be a big country geographically, it is the biggest wine producing country in Europe. We will be delving into Italy in regional trips. Starting in the most familiar regions and working toward some unfamiliar ones and even grapes you have never heard of. Join us for an ongoing tour of Italy and its wines.

Germany Many of you may remember our tasting of German reislings a few years ago. We plan on revisiting Germany in a detailed way exploring what makes wines from the Mosel different than wines of the Pfalz and Nahe. Join us on a four part tour of Germany and the nobel grape reisling.

These are just a few of the events that we are planning for the coming months and early 2010. Of course we will, as always, be hosting some local wineries too, when our local winemakers are not knee deep in juice or traveling to distant places bringing the richness of Walla Walla to the rest of the world. Cheers.

    Cheers!
