  • Wine
    Janasse CDP 2006

New wines are coming in with great frequency now. We have several new wines that we are very excited about:

Arzuaga Reserva 2004 "Cherry, tobacco, cedar and vanilla notes mingle in this polished red. Balanced, with a lively floral finish."

La Planta Tempranillo 2005 "This lush, modern red is rich with sweet, toasty oak, ripe blackberry and cassis fruit, along with cola and mocha flavors supported by well-integrated tannins."

Domaine Roland Brouilly 2006 Great Bruilly! Not the brooding and tempermental Brouilly you might be used to but, lively, structured and amazingly balanced.

Domaine de La Janasse 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape Really juicy, with a sappy core of cassis, raspberry and currant confiture backed by notes of bittersweet cocoa, fruitcake and mulled spice. The long finish is muscular but well-integrated. Best from 2009 through 2028.93pts(WS)

Roger Sabon Chateauneuf du Pape "Les Olivets" 2006 There's lots of spice and toast up front, followed by dark plum sauce, fig, graphite and fruitcake notes on the racy palate. A graphite edge wins out on the finish.90pts(WS)

We also have been expanding our selection of sparkling wines for your fall/harvest parties and pre- holiday festivities! We will continue to stock sparkling wines at all price ranges throughout the fall and into the holiday season.

    Parmigiano Cutting Event!
    Parmigiano Reggiano

We are very excited to announce here for the first time that we have secured yet another 36-month single farm wheel of parmigiano for the Second Annual Salumiere Cesario Parmigiano Wheel cutting!

Just as last year, we will host an event in our store on the Saturday after Thanksgiving (November 29) to formally cut into this wheel of AMAZING parmigiano. We were packed with guests last year, and sold more than half of the 80 pound wheel within an hour of the cutting!

We will do the same thing again this year, and we encourage you to join us for a very special event (and to get your hands on some absolutely amazing parmigiano immediately after the cutting!). Also, this is a GREAT free event to bring some of your out-of-town guests, so start making your plans today!

Look out for another email event announcement from us in the very near future with all of the details.

    Country Hams are Here!
    Newsoms Ham

Many of you became familiar with the Newsom's Country Ham last year. We have five hams this year that have been set aside for us. We will be slicing them in the store throughout the Holiday Season. If you are expecting a big crowd this year, a whole country ham would be a great item to have around for folks to snack on. Get your hands on yours before they are all gone!

    Beer

We have just received the new anniversary brew from Full Sail - a dopplebock that was brewed in honor of their 21st anniversary of brewing beer. Rich and flavorful, this is a limited release and will be available only for a short time. We absolutely love it!

Jolly Pumpkin Ales continues to turn out exciting beers and we have two new ones for you:

Oro de Calabaza is brewed in the Franco- Belgian tradition of strong golden ales. Spicy and peppery with a gentle hop bouquet and the beguiling influence of wild yeast.

La Rossa An artisan amber ale brewed in the Flanders tradition. Deep amber with earthy caramel, spice, and sour fruit notes developed through natural barrel aging. Unfiltered, unpasteurized and blended from barrels ranging in age from two to ten months.

All of these beers are great examples of the craft beers that continue to grace our shelves thanks to the true believers out there. Keep up the good work people!

    Produce
    Meyer Lemon

This is one of our favorite times of the year for fresh produce. We are seeing an abundance of figs, citrus and lettuces come in right now.

Of course, our favorite citrus, the Meyer Lemon, is in stock and will be as long as we can get our hands on it. And, some fantastic frisee and arugula lettuces are available for you to take home and create into an amazing salad.

A couple of these ingredients thrown together can make a great accompaniment to any entree! Serve some arugula with a home made dressing made with Meyer Lemon Juice, and top it off with some 36-month parmigiano! Fabulous!

    Fondue Time!
    Fondue

Fall is always fondue time at our house. This is a special treat for both adults and kids. Warm, cheesy fondue, soft bread and crisp apples. Few things on a fall evening are as enjoyable and fun! Salumiere Cesario is your fondue headquarters in Walla Walla! Whether you need, cheese, bread or even a fondue pot, we have what you need.

    What's In Store

We expect that our application for a new liquor license will be approved in a matter of days. As most of you know, we have been waiting a long time for this and had expected to have our license in place months ago. Regardless, we have been patient with the powers that be and expect that by months-end, we'll be serving wine and beer for consumption right there in our store! And, what goes best with wine and beer? Great food!

That's right, we'll be upping the anty in the store and will be serving small, seasonal plates for you to come on in and nosh upon. You'll see some changes to our inside seating area very soon, as well as a new outdoor seating area as soon as we make our way out of winter. We really look forward to these changes, and hope that you do as well!
