Welcome to the July Grocery Bag! Walla
Walla is heating up, but Salumiere Cesario is the
place to stay cool this summer. Anyone who has
walked in the cheese closet will confirm this! But,
there
are other reasons we are the cool place to be this
summer...
The Olive Oil bar is now open. The
cocktail
mixers section is filling up and we now have several
tonics to choose from. New wines are coming in
weekly, along with some great summer brews as well.
Summer produce is starting to come in regularly.
When there is no Farmers Market come see us for
your produce, but on Saturday get it from your local
grower! Also, new cheeses continue to arrive regularly,
including
some great local cheese.
And finally, if you
haven't already noticed around town, Salumiere
Cesario is sponsoring our local Pedi-Power Pedi
Cabs. What a great way to jaunt around all of the
fantastic downtown establishments. Look for the giant
Salumiere logo on the back, and hitch a ride down to
the store for a visit!
Come check out
what's in the bag this month!

| Cheese |
 |
|
We just received another Neal's Yard shipment a
week ago. If you have not yet tried the Red Leicester,
then you need to quickly before it is gone. We also
have
Wensleydale back in, this is the real deal not
the faux
Wensleyday with fruit in it. New cheese will be arriving
middle of the month for those of you who have grown
fond of the aged Gouda and the Comte Ft. Lucotte. We
are expecting to get some Sally Jackson in soon as
well as more Rivers Edge. I f there is something you
are looking for, come in and ask, because if we don't
have it we
can usually get it!
|
| Salumi (Cured Meats) |
 |
|
Salumeria Biellese will be back in stock mid month. In
the meantime, Salumi keeps us well supplied with
their tasty products. Although the Fra'Mani Sopressata
continues to be in
short supply, they are keeping us well stocked with
some other wonderful treats. The chorizo has a new
size that is great for keeping around the kithchen for
that little something something. We find that it is really
great with a cold beer!
|
| Beer |
 |
|
Cold beer is always a summer favorite, especially
when that beer has great flavor. We have many
Beligan summer beers in stock, but one of our favorite
summer sippers is Orion beer from Japan (Okinawa).
Light in colour and style but big in flavor. This is a
great beer when we get into the triple digits. Saison is
still our go-to summer favorite - hoppy, citrusy
and dry. These are the quaffers you want to have
around on a lazy summer afternoon!
|
| Fish? |
 |
|
Yes fish. We have a little secret that we are going to
let
you in on. We have some of the BEST albacore you
have ever tasted! It is sushi grade and caught off the
Oregon coast. The price will blow you away if the
flavor dosen't. Come in and talk to us about how to
get some, and we might even share our famous
ponzu sauce with you.
And, with the recent closing of Fish on Land (we will
miss you!) we would like to offer to those looking
for fresh fish that we can (and will) be doing special
orders for fresh seafood. Come in and talk to us if
there is something you need.
|
| Olive Oil Bar |
 |
|
Our Olive Oil Bar is now open! We are selling the olive
oil in bulk at $18 for 500ml. We have bottles ready for
you, and four
different Olive OIls to choose from or to blend
together. Whether you are looking for oil to cook with
or to use on salads or as a condiment, we have what
you are looking for. Come in and check out this
first for
Walla Walla.

Sea Smoke and Chateauneuf du Pape |
|
|
|
We are currently the only place in eastern Washington
to get the ultra rare and highly sought after Sea
Smoke Pinot Noir
from the famed Santa Rita Hills. We have received our
allotment (it wasn't much!) but we are sure this
will go fast. Quantities are limited, and it is offered on
a first come first serve basis. We cannot hold these,
even if you phone us. You'll have to come see us in
person. We
will be limiting quantities this year since our
allocation was less than in previous years. This is a
great wine year after year. And, this is Kris Curran's
last vintage from start to finish, as she has left to
become the Managing Wine Director for Foley Estates.
This is not a wine you want to miss.
The first of the 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape's
have also
arrived. More will be arriving in the next few months,
but the first few are worth getting down here for as they
also are sought after and hard to come by.
