Welcome to the June Grocery bag! We have
been hard at work getting ready for all of your summer
party needs. We have stocked the wine racks with
amazing wines from all over the world including some
truly amazing bargins, that still taste great! We are
also adding a line of cocktail mixers and bar
accessories that will be here mid month. Summer
cheeses are in full production now and should be
seeing some Sally Jackson cheese very soon. Rivers
Edge Chevre are starting to come in regularly now, as
well as Montiellet. We should be seeing more
summer produce start to roll in (weather permitting),
and you can find great local produce at Salumiere
Cesario everyday, not just on Saturday! There are
many new items in store.
Come check out what's in the bag this month!

Cheese |
|
We just cut into another Isle of Mull Cheddar that has
been ageing since September, and the flavours are
spectacular. Creamy and rich with a slight lactic tang.
Almost half the wheel is gone and we just opened
this
last Friday! Come in before it disappears.
We also just received our first shipment of Pholia
Farms cheese. Pholia Farms is located on 23 acres
at the base of Elk Mountain in Jackson County,
Oregon, about 10 miles outside of the town of Rogue
River. The farm is part of 220 acres that Gianaclis
Caldwell
grew up on. After her husband, Vern, retired from the
Marine Corps,
the Caldwells moved back home and began
construction of their off-grid (by choice) dairy and
home. They raise and breed Nigerian Dwarf Goats
and make spectacular cheese. We just received in
our
first shipment of Hillis Peak. Hillis Peak is a washed
curd raw milk cheese. It is aged from 6-7 months and
has a natural rind that is rubbed with oil and paprika
during aging. The paste is semi firm with a balance of
acidity and salt along with herbal overtones. The rind
is usually not eaten. It is named after the mountain to
the East of the farm which is named after an early
pioneer family in the valley who also happened to live
across from Gianaclis's mother when she grew up in
Evans Valley.
Pholia Farms cheeses are difficult to come by some
come in and taste this before its gone.

Salumi (Cured Meats) |
|
More cured meats continue to fill our case, and we
are working on
procuring a new label of hand made salumi. We will
keep you posted on this as it develops and let you
know when it is a done deal.
In the meantime we continue to receive Salumi
products and have recently added their lamb
prosciutto. If you like lamb you will absolutely love
this.
Grassy with hints of melon and watermelon rind,
brilliant!
We also have in our, not as yet world famous, bacon.
If
you like bacon, but have never tried this you need to
get in here. There is nothing else we will allow on a
BLT.
We also have both the 12-month and 18-month
Serrano
hams in now as well as the San Danielle and Parma
Prosciuttos. Bring on the melons!
|
Beer |
|
The referigerated case is loaded up with some great
(pardon the expression) summer suds! Saison is our
preferred summer sipper when the mercury rises ~
we have several to choose from. We are also
expecting in some great domestic summer beers to
quench your thirst after a long ride on the mower!
|
Fish? |
|
Yes fish. We have a little secret that we are going to
let
you in on. We have some of the BEST albacore you
have ever tasted! It is sushi grade and caught off the
Oregon coast. The price will blow you away if the
flavor dosen't. Come in and talk to us about how to
get some, and we might even share our famous
ponzu sauce with you.

Cocktail Party Headquarters |
|
Many of you have enjoyed the Q-Tonic that we have
been bringing in. So, in an effort to promote better
cocktails, we are pleased to announce that we will be
carrying Stirrings Tonic as well. And, since we are
carrying their tonic we decided that we probably
should just carry their other great bar mixers as well!
We will have the full selection of mixers, rimmers,
sodas and bar ingredients.
We are also bringing in some great bitters from Fee
Brothers. These guys have been making
their "elixers"
since 1933! We have tasted these and they are
fantstic. (Damon has some great cocktail recipes that
he is soon going to be trying out with these!)
