The Grocery Bag Walla Walla's Gourmet Grocery
June 2007

So here we are a bit more than a year into our venture as Walla Walla's Gourmet Grocery, and many of you have asked what's next for Salumiere Cesario...

The newest addition to the store just came in last week - a refrigerated cold case chock full of goodies for you to grab and go! We have stocked it with our fresh hummus, tapenade, marcona almonds, fruit & nut mix, mixed olives, cornichons, wine, beer, waters, and more!

And, we are happy to report that very soon we will carry fresh milk in glass bottles, eggs, and European butter , along with our house-made pasta sauce, soups to go, fresh salads, and other ready-made take out items - stay tuned for more new and exciting things to come!!

What's In The Bag:

  • Formaggio
    Rivers Edge

Every year as the weather gets warmer there is an overabundance of milk, with which to make great soft cheeses. Summer is the best time of year to enjoy these fresh, soft cheeses. We are proud to be carrying some of the best soft cheeses that are being made today. Here's a peek at some of the great artisans hiding in our cheese closet:

    • River's Edge Chevre
    • Andante Dairy
    • Mount Townsend Creamery

We continue to receive Neal's Yard Dairy cheese on a regular basis, and we are taking great care to do some extra affinage on these beautiful wheels. We will be cutting into a Lincolnshire Poacher before the end of June - and will send an announcement as this great experience grows closer.

Come cool down in our cheese closet and have a taste of what's most fresh.

    Salumi
    framani sakumi

Fra'mani's Chorizo was released just this last month. If you have not yet come in to try it, you should! It is very similar to Salumi's Mole, but yet distinctly different. We expect another shipment of Fra'mani Mortadella very soon - this seems to be a very popular choice as the weather starts to heat up. And, don't forget the Fra'mani fresh Classic and Spicy Italian sausages for great grilling!

    Wine & Beer
    sake

Part of our philosophy when adding new products that we think Walla Walla is looking for, is to bring items to the community that cannot be found anywhere else locally. We are happy to finally announce that we are now the only store in town carrying Premium Japanese Sake! Come in and check out what we have!

We also just got our first shipment of Ridge 2003 Geyeserville and 2004 Lytton Springs, both of which are excellent wines at great prices. We bring in new wines almost every week so be sure to check back regularly for what's new!

And, in our new refrigerated cold case, we have several wines, sparkling wines, beer and waters chilled and ready to serve - just pop in and grab some to enjoy immediately!

    Fresh Produce
    arugula salad

We are always looking for the best produce to bring to you. The summer produce is on its way in from our local growers - keep an eye out for fresh arugula, beautiful tomatoes and all kinds of summer treats for your table.

    Picnic Season is Here!
    wine picnic

We are your one stop shop for your summer picnics! We have everything you need including bread, cheese, meat, water, wine, hummus, tapenade, chocolates and more! Give us a call ahead of time and we can have it ready for pick up, or stop in on your way out to choose whatever sparks your interest!

    Cheers!

    Slow Food Revolution
    Slow FOod

Salumiere Cesario is proud to announce that we have joined Slow Food. Slow Food is a non-profit, eco- gastronomic member-supported organization that was founded in 1989 to counteract fast food and fast life, the disappearance of local food traditions and people's dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from, how it tastes and how our food choices affect the rest of the world. As many of you know, we have a true passion for food, and strive to bring our customers only the best food from the best sources. We encourage you to learn a bit about the Slow Food community when you have a moment.
