Winter is fast approaching! The air in Walla
Walla is already crisp and cold, darkness comes early
and everyone is bundled up when they go out. But at
Walla Walla's Gourmet Grocery, things are heating up!
If you haven't already heard we are now serving
some of our favorite comfort foods in the store - just
like we promised on the day we opened. We have
been busy making fresh soup, great sandwiches and
incredible snacks,
as well an many other items that can be packaged to
take home with you like hummus, fresh olive
tapenade, and dolmas to name a few.
Please see the sidebar for a list of what kinds of
freshly prepared foods will be available - but you'll
have to check our chalkboard when you come in to
see what is freshly prepared that day. And, as
always, all of our food is made
here in the store and only from the finest and freshest
ingredients that we can get our hands on.

- Humbug Mountain
River's Edge makes some of the best, fresh
goats milk
cheese that we have ever tasted. Don't miss
these.
Also, we have a special 24-month
aged parmesean that is handmade on a small farm in
Parma, Italy. Something a little extra-special for your
holiday cheese boards...

We have some new wonderful meats to add to the
board this
month:
From Our Friends at Fra'Mani:
- Mattinata - An Italian Breakfast Sausage
- Nostrano - If you have not yet tried this, you
have not been in the store for a while!
- Soppressata - Their biggest salame yet!
From Salumeria Billese:
- Mortadella - Yes! Real Handmade Mortadella!
- Tuscano - A flat Tuscan-style salame studded
with fennel seeds
We have also just brought in the BEST domestic
proscuitto. You just have to try it, trust us.

New Year's Eve is just around the corner - and we
have a great stock of sparkling wines and champagne
for you to celebrate with! Our sparklers start at
just $14 and go up and up from there.
We
have also added some new wines in the shop recently.
If you haven't been in to check them out, hurry
before they are gone (like those nice warm summer
days). We have wines that fit every budget
that make great holiday gifts and others that are
perfect for bringing to a holiday party.
If
beer is your thing, we
have stocked up on some amazing fall and winter
brews to sip on
those long winter nights by the fire.

As always we strive to bring to our customers the
best seasonal produce we can find. We now have
Meyer Lemons back in stock in our store and will
continue to keep them on hand until the season ends
in
March. Our Meyers are
sustainably grown in California, and have excellent
flavor
and aroma.
The winter crop of Arugula is
coming in
now too. We have been receiving baby organic
arugula and the quality is the best you will find this
time of year - amazingly peppery and very little
bitterness. Arugula
is a great source of Folic acid, Vitamin C and Iron!
Baby frisee is another great winter salad
green that is high
in Vitamins A and K and is also a great source of
fiber. We are keeping this in stock as well - come
and get some before we are sold out!
Keep
in mind that we are
constantly adding new items as they become
available, so check the store for what is new and
fresh!

As you may have heard, the first Olive Oil tasting is
coming up December 7th. We are bringing in the
official Olive Oil
tasting glass used by the IOOC (International Olive
Oil Consortium) in
Spain for this tasting. Also, on December 14th we
will hold our first Port tasting. We expect both of
these events to be filled quickly so reserve your
space soon.
