World Café Harvest Fund Drive an Overwhelming Success!!

fall fund driveWe're celebrating Thanksgiving Day in America this month and it feels like the perfect time to express our deep gratitude for the great rally of support we received during our Harvest Fund Drive.

Here's a note from one contributor whose words were echoed by so many of you (click here to hear the others):

"The World Cafe gives me hope at this time in history when as a people we are trying anew to find our way. I sense the conscious and unconscious yearning all around me for conversations that matter. Making this contribution is one way I can encourage more conversation in the world, and it is a small way in which I can continue to repay all of the gifts I have received from the World Cafe community.
~ Heather Cummings

YES, because of you we did indeed meet our goal - in fact, amazingly, we almost doubled it! In three short weeks people around the world stepped up to say, in at least a hundred different ways, "Yes! We see you, we appreciate you and we value the World Café Community Foundation". To our small core team this overwhelmingly positive response was a huge gift of encouragement and recognition. Thank you you so much!

For the last sixteen years, Juanita Brown and David Isaacs, our co-founders, have poured their passion, love, attention, wisdom, time and personal resources into keeping this hub called The World Café Community Foundation alive and moving forward. Only a few knew what it truly took for them to keep a rapidly expanding and evolving community of practitioners together for so many years. In their current role as global ambassadors, Juanita and David are still dedicated to keeping the essence of the World Café movement strong and thriving while having passed on the daily work and
global evolution of the World Café Community Foundation to others.

So now, the rest is up to us.

Your participation and warm support during this Harvest Fund Drive means that we can continue our daily functioning as the hub of the World Café's work in the world for at least another 5 months. It means we can continue to be your central source of World Café information, services, learning, e-materials and global community connection.

The Harvest Fund Drive has served as an initiation and activation of the support necessary to keep us going. But it cannot stop there. Ongoing subscriptions and sustaining contributions from our community membership are fundamental to our resourcing ecology and absolutely key to the Foundation's continued viability and vitality. Leaders who are willing to step up to support us as we do the work of building on the initiatives we have launched recently are critical.

We are pleased and excited to see that pledges for ongoing contributions have already started coming in following in the wake of the Harvest Fund Drive. Thank you so much to the following leaders in our community, starting with our global ambassadors, who have recognized the World Café Community Foundation's ongoing need for support and already pledged regular monthly or annual contributions towards meeting that need:

Juanita Brown
David Isaacs
Ulric Rudebeck
Deborah Goldblatt
Bob Stilger
Jumana Husseini

Please join them as you are able in the coming months, and help us pass this message on to others and keep the gift of the World Café moving forward.

In the meantime, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to every one of you.

Three New World Café Signature Learning Programs Scheduled

"I've been very satisfied with the TWC Level One Online Learning Program - it is well-organized and professionally conducted, yet maintaining the principles of TWC. I've also been impressed with the effective use of the TWC online community platform to reinforce participants learning, sharing and collaboration."

online learning programsAfter the success of our inaugural learning programs in August (online) and September (in Sao Paulo), we now have three new Level One online learning programs scheduled for December 2011, January 2012 and February 2012, with the first one starting on December 8th.

Register Now to join us in December!

For those of you who've learned about the World Cafe through books, these accessible Level One courses give a direct experience of World Café and offer the opportunity to ask questions and share learning with peers and seasoned World Café hosts alike.

In August several hardy souls from South Africa, Brunei, and Singapore joined online Learning Program sessions in what was the middle of the night in their countries! So this time, our courses have been scheduled to be convenient in different time zones. If you live in Asia or Australia, for example, you may want to register for the January program so you can participate during the day!

Learn more about World Café Signature Learning Programs or Register Now for the December program.

Watch this space for news of Levels One and Two being offered online and face to face around the world.

Remember, Level One (or the equivalent experience) is necessary preparation for Level Two, which covers the fundamentals of World Café hosting.

Our first Level Two online course is now being planned in collaboration with Fielding Gratuate University, due to launch March 2012. The successful completion of this four-week course will yield 4 CEUs.
