Dear Friends of the World Café,
Today marks the beginning of the last week of our three-week Harvest Fund Drive.
With a current total of $8,045.00 raised to date, the fulfillment of our ambitious but absolutely necessary goal of reaching $25,000 in just one more week will clearly be a challenge, but one we must take on if we are to keep the World Cafe Community Foundation financially viable while our new programs are kicking in and sponsorship proposals are being considered.
Looking at the list of people who have contributed so far and listening to what they have to say about why they have contributed, I am encouraged in thinking this is a goal we are capable of, especially when we are able to work together towards its fulfillment.
I was speaking with my friend Sheryl Erickson, co-founder of the Collective Wisdom Initiative, who said the World Cafe's fund-raising appeal suggests to her a new way of being with and for each other in these challenging economic times. I'm paraphrasing here, but she went on to say that all of us can manage to contribute a little at the times when the need is great for others and in this way we are able to weather the difficult times together collectively.
As we enter this final week of the Harvest Fund Drive I want to honor the spirit of Sheryl's thought, and stop for moment of deep gratitude to thank everyone who has answered the urgent call for help sent out by the World Café Community Foundation during this crucial time in our work.
It's no small thing to have the capacity to respond to the need we see in the world, and our community is a warm and generous one. Thank you so much.

We have a mailing list of over 10,000 people who have been touched by the World Café and an online community of over 3,500 people from every corner of the globe. Every day we hear stories about World Cafés we had no idea were happening - in every sector, in every country throughout the world. Your money makes it possible for us to keep serving the extended community of people who care about conversation and know the power of groups gathering together to address questions that matter to them. It allows us to keep hosting the Word Cafe website with its free resources, useful information, and valuable articles. It helps us maintain a "hospitable space" for our burgeoning online community - a place to connect with each other, share stories and exchange inspiration, information, and support.
Your contributions allow us to answer the inquiries and calls for help and information that come in at a rate of 15-20 every single day, convene the critical conversations of our times both online and face to face, and help you host the conversations you are called to convene. They make it possible for us to support the new generations of hosts emerging around the world in finding their voice and accessing the confidence to call forward the conversations that they see as most important now.
