This has been a busy month for the staff who contribute to and edit your Volunteer eNews! Several of the articles this month are here to serve as reminders for upcoming opportunities. 2012 Troop Financial Reports

June 30, 2012 is fast approaching, which means financial reports will soon be due. This is another friendly reminder that you can find the necessary Troop Financial Report (form 102, available in printable or fillable versions) on our Forms & Publications Web page. Your 2011 end-of-year balance is also available from your service unit treasurer if you need it. Please remember to include a current copy of your bank statement. Contact your service unit treasurer with questions.

The Informational Classes & Adult Networking (ICAN) Conference is scheduled for October 19-21, 2012 at Mountaindale Outdoor Program Center. This development weekend is designed for experienced leaders and is packed full of valuable workshops, relaxation and networking.


Make sure you take advantage of the early registration discount! Register for ICAN by June 15, 2012 and receive $10 off of your registration fee. PLUS, extra savvy campers can get an additional $10 off by tent/car camping. That's quite a discount! Walk in the Grand Floral Parade!

Girls from all areas are still needed to help celebrate 100 years of Girl Scouting as we walk with the Wells Fargo stagecoach in the 2012 Grand Floral Parade! This opportunity is open to the first 100 girls & volunteers that register. Girls will be representing Girl Scouts during this televised event.

  • Girls and adults are required to wear white shirts and khaki bottoms. Girls are also required to wear their Girl Scout vest/sash and membership pins on their insignia tab.
  • Girls and adults must be able to walk the entire route (4.1 miles).

First Tier Registration Ends Soon!

Spring re-registration continues until June 29, 2012.


What is spring re-registration?
Spring re-registration is a time where troops and parents can renew girl or adult registrations for the next membership year (2012-2013).
 

Why should I participate in spring re-registration?
Not only does spring re-registration get you all set for fall, there are exciting spring re-registration incentives*!
 

THIS DEADLINE IS SOON for the first tier incentives - if you register by May 15*, your troop can get:

  • a FREE Journey book and facilitator's guide set
  • a 15% off coupon for the Girl Scout store

Each registered girl will get her own 15% off Girl Scout store coupon! See GSOSW website for complete details and restrictions.


*After May 15, second tier incentives will be offered until June 29.

 

How do I register my troop or girl?
Visit Girl Scouts OSW's Personify site.

 

What information will I need to re-register my troop?
You will need the following information on each individual:

  • Current contact information (address, city, zip, phone, email)
  • Number of years as a girl member (required for girls)
  • Number of years as an adult member (required for adults)
  • School grade for the upcoming year (required for girls)
  • School name for the upcoming year (required for girls)
  • Race/ethnic information
  • Pathway of entry - for most members, this will be "troop"
  • Custodial status & current contact information for custodial adults (required for girls)

1912 Society Update

We currently have 111 members and counting! Founding members of the 1912 Soceity will be permanently recognized on the Wall of Honor at our headquarters in Portland, Oregon, acknowledged in a similar wall hanging in each Girl Scout service center throughout the council, listed in the 2012 Annual Report (published in 2013) and included on our website. 1912 Society members will also receive a numbered certificate of membership to commemorate their investment in the future of Girl Scouting. Thank you for helping to spread the word about this special opportunity!
