Design Your Eco Dream House! | |
Design Your Eco Dream House! Have you seen it? It's live on forgirls.girlscouts.org. This new digital program enables girls to design a house - from the outside in - and simultaneously see how green their decisions are. It's a great tie to the Get Moving! journey for Juniors and really to every journey in the It's Your Planet series. |
Event Evaluation Survey Winner | |
Help Girl Scouts OSW succeed in offering a variety of meaningful and exciting events in your area! After attending a council-sponsored event you will receive an email with a link to an Event Evaluation survey. Complete the survey and be entered for a chance to win a journey book of your choice from the GSOSW store! One person will be chosen each month.

Girl Scouts Take Over Television! | |
Girl Scouts will be featured on two upcoming television broadcasts!
Nationally, you can see an all-Girl Scout episode of the Marth Stewart Show on Monday, May 7 on the Hallmark channel. See Martha chat it up with Anna Maria Chávez, CEO of Girl Scouts of the USA, and girls from many councils. Enter your zipcode on marthastewart.com to find the Hallmark channel in your area.
Locally, girls, volunteers and staff from GSOSW will be featured on The Wild Life with Jeremy on June 1, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. on Comcast Sportnet. Battling frigid temperatures in Eagle Creek on the Columbia Gorge, host Jeremy McLaughlin is challenged by retrieving GPS targets down deep canyons and the cold waters of Punchbowl Falls, all for a group of Girl Scouts. All girls who sold at least one box of cookies will receive info on getting their priority "cookie seller" seating wristband when they get their cookie recognitions.
We are excited to be announce that Laura Marano, star of Disney's "Austin and Ally" will be doing a meet and greet at the Birthday Celebration right before the concert from Noon - 2:00 p.m. Girls will sign up at the Product Sales booth starting at 10:00 a.m. for the chance to meet Ms. Marano and get an autograph and photo with her. Space is limited, so sign up early at the event for your opportunity. This will only be available to girls with their cookie seller wristband. Watch the recognitions for how to register and get your wristband!

Intro to Orienteering

Have you noticed the new craze of geocaching and letterboxing and wished you new how? Here is your chance to learn with an introduction to orienteering. Learn how to read a map and compass which really helps with operating a GPS and finding letterboxes. Have you been to Wildlife Images during the day? See the wildlife in a whole new light...by flashlight! The evening begins with a pizza dinner and a special bird of prey presentation, followed by a nocturnal tour of the facility. Resident Camp is Just Around the Corner! | |
Resident Camp is just around the corner, and now it is time to sign up! There are programs for just about every interest, singing (Sing Out Loud), Harry Potter (Woodland Wizards, Sorcerer's Apprentice), swimming (Splash), Crafts (Make-it Take-it, Get Creative, Art Extravaganza), horseback riding (Saddle Up, Cowgirl Up, Boots and Saddle, Trail Riders, Rodeo Riders) and outdoor skills (Hiker Girl, Outdoor Chef, Day Trekker, Challenge Yourself Outdoors). Financial assistance is still available as well.

Spread the Magic of Day Camp | |
Volunteer!
Camp is not only a great way for girls to learn but it is fun for adults as well. Register your camper and sign yourself up too!
All of our day camps are 100% volunteer-run. Enjoy priority placement and discounts (available at select camps) when you volunteer. Most camps have units for younger siblings and school-aged boys to enjoy while the parent is volunteering. Construction for the Modern Scout
Portland, OR
This two day program includes a variety of hands-on workshops and seminars. You will be working with tools, equipment and materials to construct projects from start to finish. Learn about the multiple sides of what a career in construction can offer from special guest speakers. Earn a NAWIC badge and rocker and look for more offerings next fall! Sunday breakfast and lunch for both days is provided. Dinner and overnight accomodations are not provided - but check out the local GSOSW properties for possible overnight stays.

Make this Mother's Day extra special by honoring a loved one with a membership to the 1912 Society. This is a unique opportunity to honor or memorialize someone special in your life that loved Girl Scouting. By making a gift of $100, your special someone will have their name permanently recognized on the Wall of Honor at GSOSW headquarters. Their name will also be displayed in all GSOSW service centers and included on our website through December 2013. All funds will go towards ensuring the sustainability of our Girl Scout program and will help lay the foundation for the next 100 years.

Throughout Girl Scout journeys, girls are encouraged to eat healthy snacks and stay active - that's an important message we want all girls to get! That's why we're excited to announce that, in partnership with the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation, Girl Scouts has developed three "healthy habits" booklets for volunteers to use in conjunction with their journey Adult Guides. You can download the booklets today for FREE at girlscouts.org!
Through the use of these free resources for Girl Scout Daisies, Brownies and Juniors, volunteers and families can guide girls in fun, easy ways to lead active, healthy lifestyles.
