Cookie Program

Congratulations for surviving the 2012 Girl Scout Cookie Program! Stay tuned for what our final tally is on our website, girlscoutsosw.org. Girls have worked hard towards their goals and we know the leaders have worked just as hard to make sure everything runs smoothly for girls. Thanks for your hard work in creating the next generation of leaders.

Sudden Service

Many areas are still seeking troops and individual girls for the sudden service program! This program connects girls to service opportunities that come up at the last minute. Troops or individual girls can sign up, and will be notified when we have last minute opportunities to help in the community. This can be anything from a flag ceremony, helping younger girls, supporting an assisted living facility and more. Girl Scouts will be contacted when we have last minute opportunities to serve.  This is open to girls of all grade levels.

You can learn more about the program at girlscoutsosw.org. Sign-up can be found online or with a paper form (online is preferred). Sign up today to explore great opportunities!

GSOSW Annual Meeting Update

If you haven't marked the date on your calendar yet, it's not too late to do so! Our council's annual meeting is coming up soon - April 21, 2012. All members of GSOSW are welcome to attend the annual meeting and the pre- and post-meeting activities. You don't have to be a delegate to attend. More information is available on on our website, or contact your service unit manager.

Long Range Property Plan - Phase I Available for Review

The Properties Committee of Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington, at the direction of the board of directors, has been working for over a year developing a long range plan for management of our many outdoor program properties. The first phase of this plan is complete. It has been presented to the board of directors and they are in general concurrence with the recommendations the Committee has made. However, they will not give formal approval until we hear from you, the members. Visit girlscoutsosw.org to read the plan and find out how to submit your feedback. The comment period is open until May 15, 2012.

It's Girl Scout Camping Basics Time!

If you are planning any spring or summer camping with your girls, be sure to sign up right away for your Girl Scout Camping Basics training. This is a required course. We have courses scheduled throughout the council. Register for your spot now through Personify or your local service center.

Theda Family Volunteer Learning Opportunity Grant

We have a wonderful opportunity to offer the volunteers of Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington. Through a generous donation we are able to offer a grant that will help send adult volunteers to National Girl Scout Learning opportunities. Grant details and the application can be found on our website or picked up at your local service center. Applications are due May 1, 2011 and will be awarded by May 15, 2011.

Northwest Centennial Roundup Registration Deadline Extended!

Roundups are a time-honored Girl Scout tradition, a time for older girls to celebrate everything wonderful about being a Girl Scout! Girls, often from all over the world, gather to meet new friends, experience outdoor activities, evening entertainment, and practice all of the skills and traditions that make Girl Scouting great!

This year, in honor of 100 years of Girl Scouting, GSOSW is hosting the Northwest Centennial Roundup in Sweet Home, Oregon. This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity, and we want you to be a part of it! Daily activities will include rock climbing, swimming, sports, jewelry making, canoeing, gold mining, building houses with Habitat for Humanity, a trip to GSOSW's 100th Anniversary celebration in Albany and much more!

The cost for this seven day adventure is estimated at $175 per girl. Visit girlscoutsosw.org for additional details and registration information. The registration deadline has been extended, but it is only open until May 1, so sign up today! Contact anniversary@girlscoutsosw.org with questions.

Spring Re-registration Begins April 1

It's time for final preparations for spring re-registration. This year spring re-registration will begin April 1, 2012 and close June 29, 2012. Service Unit Incentive

Service unit spring re-registration incentives will be the same as last year. Have you checked out the Spring-Summer Program Guide?

You will definitely want to check out the exciting programs offered in the 2012 Program Guide, Spring-Summer edition.
