It's Not Too Late to Elect Annual Meeting Delegates!

If your service unit has not yet elected delegates for this membership year, it's not too late - but we need to complete this process soon! Delegate elections ensure that your service unit will have representation at the annual meeting. Please provide the names of service unit delegates as soon as possible so that we can send them an annual meeting information and registration packet.

Being a delegate is fun and easy. You can attend the meeting in Portland or attend your choice of satellite sites. Any registered member aged 14 years and older is eligible to serve. Contact your service unit manger or membership manager
for more information. We look forward to seeing you at the Annual Meeting on April 21, 2012!

Annual Meeting Date and Location Determined

We are pleased to announce that the council's annual meeting will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Portland State University in Portland. Satellite sites are tentatively located in Bend, Hermiston, Eugene, Klamath Falls, and Medford. Please note that satellite locations are subject to change.

The tentative schedule will offer learning opportunities for girl and adult members in the morning from 10:00- 11:30 a.m., followed by the annual meeting at 12:30 p.m. You don't have to be a delegate to attend!

As more details are confirmed, we will be sure to share them with you. For now, mark the date on your calendar and plan to join other members for a celebration of our council at the annual meeting!

Cookie Credits Help Pay for Camp, Tiered Pricing Keeps Costs Low

Thinking about resident camp but concerned about the cost? Have questions about tiered pricing and options to help pay for resident camp?

Cookies Can Help Pay For Camp!

As the Girl Scout Cookie Program is underway, remember that Cookie Credit is a great way to help pay for camp.  The Cookie Program allows girls to set goals and help finance the camp experience she picks out for the summer. This can provide a great sense of accomplishment for girls to be a part of the whole experience of camp, from selecting a program to helping with the cost.

Tiered Pricing

Tiered pricing is our way of keeping costs low for families with income restrictions or those who send multiple campers to camp, while being clear about the actual cost of camp for families that can afford the full price. Families select the tier that works for them, no questions asked.  When registering for camp on a paper form, simply write-in the appropriate session cost for the tier you are selecting. If you are registering online, note that the system will automatically default to tier one; you will need to manually change the selection if that is not the tier you wish to select.

There is still financial assistance available for families for whom tier 3 is out of reach. To apply for financial assistance, complete a paper financial assistance form which can be found in the Resident Camp Brochure or online. We want every girl who wants to attend camp to have the opportunity. If you have any questions about pricing for camp or financial assistance please contact Marissa Bennett, Resident Camp Outdoor Program Manager at mbennett@girlscoutsosw.org or (503) 977-6881.

Travel Opportunities Have a New Look!

From travel in the Pacific Northwest to Washington D.C. and New York, to Europe, India and Africa, girls can explore the world through Girl Scouts - and now there are even more options! With help from the Travel Volunteer Team we have restructured how travel opportunities are organized, rewritten most of the travel workshops for girls and are in the process of reorganizing how travel information is found on the website. The website reveal will be our last major project and then we want to hear what you think! Check out the new look after February 15 at girlscoutsosw.org/events/travel. While you are there you can explore the many different ways girls can travel and you can also find out how adults can travel as well!

You can be a part of the adventure and share your passion for travel by helping girls discover their own passion. From facilitating workshops to chaperoning trips with girls, there are ways you can participate-no matter what your level of travel experience is. Whatever types of travel or volunteering roles you are interested in, we have an opportunity for you. We can match you with the right level of time commitment, regional connections and specific volunteer roles you want.

You can make a difference in a girl's life through travel! To get involved in the South, contact Jan Thompson at jthompson@girlscoutsosw.org. To get involved in the North, contact contact Callie Vandewiele at cvandewiele@girlscoutsosw.org.

 Family Partnership Update

This year we're offering exciting Family Partnership prizes for individuals, troops, and service units!

Individuals: Everyone who donates $12 or more between 10/1/11 - 9/30/12 toward Family Partnership will be entered into a drawing to win a two-night stay at the Eagle Crest Resort in Central Oregon.

Troops: All troops with 100% participation in the 2012 Family Partnership campaign will be entered into a drawing; three troops will be selected to win their choice of several great prizes. Details coming soon!

Service units: The top three service units with the highest percentage of Family Partnership participation will each receive one free weekend at a Girl Scouts OSW camp of choice. Last year we selected two service units for this great prize, this year we're selecting three! In an effort to be as fair as possible, we're dividing all service units by population size. Ask your fund development coordinator for details.

If you or someone you know might be interested in serving as the fund development coordinator for your area, please contact Nicky Aiello at (503) 977-6833 or naiello@girlscoutsosw.org

Maximizing the Program Guide

February is the start of the direct sales portion of the Girl Scout Cookie Program and it's the launch of the Spring edition of the Program Guide. Many girls will soon be busy scanning the guide to see what adventures await them and how they can spend their hard earned money from the Girl Scout Cookie Program. Now is a great time for you to remind the families in your troops about the Girl Scout pathways and how to maximize their use of the Program Guide! Here are some tips to remind them about:

1. The Program Guide is organized by Girl Scout pathway and then date - at the top of each section is a quick definition of each pathway.

2. Program registration closes two weeks prior to the event, to give our program partners time to be prepared. Please help us prepare for events by submitting your registrations early!

3. Personify registration is designated in the event heading with a "P" symbol. Events where registration is through an outside partner have the contact information included in the description.

4. If you have any questions about registration or events, you can always email events@girlscoutsosw.org.

Additionally, we love hearing stories about events and seeing pictures! Who knows, you may see your picture in the next Program Guide! Please share stories and and pictures with us at girlscoutsosw.org/share
