Volunteer Training

This month is also packed full of more than 30 group setting courses council-wide! Check for courses near you and use this great opportunity to connect with passionate volunteer trainers and other Girl Scout volunteers.

Family Partnership 2011 a Success

Thank you to everyone who worked SO hard to make Family Partnership 2011 a success. You deserve a pat on the back for your contribution to the campaign - with your help we were able to raise $36,600! This is an increase of more than $10,000 over last year and represents a HUGE increase in participation.

Family Partnership 2011 incentive winners:

Service Unit Contest Free weekend at a Girl Scouts OSW camp of choice:

  • Service Unit 12 had 100% participation! Wow!
  • Service Unit 68 had a huge increase in participation from previous years! Awesome job!

Troop Prize Pizza party on the council:

  • Troop 40564 in Service Unit 17
  • Troop 40811 in Service Unit 12
  • Troop 40106 in Service Unit 2

Individual Prize Two-night stay at a cabin in Pacific City, Oregon:

Win a Year's Worth of Dairy Products!

To find out how your family could win a year's worth of dairy products, valued at $500, check out the back cover of the 2012 Girl Scout Cookie Program Family Guide. Special thanks to the Dairy Farmers of Oregon for this great prize and another year of partnering with Girl Scouts to promote milk as a great complement to Girl Scout cookies.

SUPM's are geared up and ready to bring everything they learned at training back to troop leaders! Be on the lookout for info on your service unit's cookie training date(s). There are a lot of special things we incorporated into this year's sale in celebration of our 100th Anniversary. So get ready to have a fantastically great 2012 Girl Scout Cookie Program!

Here are a few important dates to get onto your calendar:

  • November/December 2011     Troop Training
  • December/Early January          Troop Parent Meeting
  • January 7, 2012                         Order Taking Begins
  • Feb 17 - March 11, 2012          Delivery/Open Sales

Now is a great time to start recruiting parents and volunteers to help out with the Girl Scout Cookie Program. Remember that parents who are going to work a troop booth sale need to have a completed registration and background check on file. Anyone who is planning to work a booth sale also needs to have booth sales assistant training.

Cookie rallies are around the corner! Mark your calendar to take your girls to one of the best events of the year. If you and/or your troop would like to help at this event, please contact the rally organizer in your area. If you don't know who that person is, visit girlscoutsosw.org for more information starting November 28.

Help Make History!

2012 marks the 100th Anniversary of Girl Scouting! Be a part of this exciting time by volunteering for a centennial event:

  • Help plan programs for the NW Centennial Roundup.
  • Develop a historical timeline for celebrations at Homestead Outdoor Program Center.
  • Run a camp staff reunion booth at the birthday celebration in August, 2012.

If you're interested in these opportunities or others that may be available, contact Sarah Miller or visit girlscoutsosw.org.
