AVSC is in full swing with the Ajax Cup, competitions, and programs and we're excited to fill you in on the details!

All of us at AVSC wish you all the best this season. Nothing's better than being surrounded by family and friends with the Rocky Mountains right outside. With the mountains open and fresh snow and great grooming making the conditions better and better, those of you who have been waiting to sign up your children with us, wait no longer!
AVSC Set to Host the Second Annual Ajax Cup!
Ajax Cup LogoAVSC is gearing up to host the Second Annual Ajax Cup on Aspen Mountain, December 30th!  Teams of eight skiers and snowboarders led by some of the most famous names in skiing will compete head to head down Little Nell starting at 10:00am.  Come watch the action as Casey Puckett, Chris Davenport, Kim Reichhelm, Chris Klug, Kristina Koznick, Chris Anthony and more lead their teams against one another for victory!

There are still a limited number of tickets available to the apres ski party immediately following the race.  Widely touted as the best apres-ski party of the winter last year, the event will be held at the tented Silver Circle Ice Rink in front of the Hyatt Grand Aspen. Guests will toast the winning team and enjoy gourmet food stations, top shelf libations and live entertainment. Tickets are $750 per person so be sure to buy now as last year's event sold out!

We encourage everyone to bring your cowbells to Aspen Mountain on the 30th to see who can beat Christopher Johnson's team and earn bragging rights for the whole year!

AVSC Bow Logo "The one thing I love more than anything in the entire world is just being out on the hill on a sunny day with my friends on the team." - Snowboarder Logan Garrison

During this season of gift giving we kindly ask you to join us by making your donation to AVSC today.  Your contribution in any amount will make the experience shared by Logan a reality for some very deserving local children.  All donations are tax-deductible and due to record numbers of scholarship requests we've had this year your contribution will be put to use right away. Donations can be made online or by replying to our Annual Giving mailing sent out late last month.  Thanks in advance for helping the more than 2,000 children in our programs.

Gisele and over 250 other young skiers and snowboarders on AVSC scholarships were outfitted with complete sets of free ski and snowboard equipment. Thanks to Jeff Gorsuch, Derek Johnson the staff at both retailers in downtown Aspen, it was a night to remember for some grateful families throughout the valley! Check out Aspen Spin's coverage of the night right here! Aspen Public Radio's Luke Runyon was on hand to interview attendees. AVSC Thanks the Aspen Thrift Shop!
Aspen Thrift Shop logo Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club wishes to thank the Aspen Thift Shop and all of the hard-working volunteers there for their longstanding and generous support of AVSC's mission and programs including our outreach to underserved local youth. This year the Thrift Shop donated $15,000 to AVSC!  They are a true community asset having supported scores of non-profit organizations serving residents throughout the valley!

We encourage everyone to donate any gently used clothing and household items in good condition to the Thrift Shop. The store has been in its current location between the fire station and Peaches Cafe since 1983. They are open every day except Sunday from 10am to 3pm and are open late on Tuesdays from 4-7pm.

According to at-large member Carolyn Moore, they welcome volunteers of all ages including those needing community service hours. Interested volunteers can reach Carolyn at (970) 379-3216 or find out more information at www.aspenthriftshop.org.
