Deadlines & Diapers: 65 Tips for Working Moms gets press!
Before the holidays, a writer from the Poughkeepsie
Journal responded to a press release that I sent out
and interviewed me for a story about my new
book - Deadlines & Diapers:65 Tips for Working
Moms. I was so excited, I couldn't wait to
read the story. I even suggested that the writer talk
to a few working moms in the Poughkeepsie area. A
few years ago, I spoke to the Society of Women
Engineers in that area so I gave the writer some
contact names. Well, one of the women engineers
was featured in the story, they even included a
picture of her! My book was mentioned at the end of
the story. Oh well!

| The Seven C's of Leadership |
| |
The Seven C's of Leadership, a new keynote,
is quickly becoming a highly requested topic. The
keynote was first delivered in November of 2005 at
the NYS Women in Communications and Energy
conference hosted by Con
Edison in NYC. Carol Monti Barris, VP of Service for
Orange and Rockland invited me to address the
audience at the annual conference. During the next
few weeks, the
keynote will be delivered to corporate audiences at
Cummins and Chemtura. Both of these companies
have successfully implemented Lean Sigma and Six
Sigma initiatives. For those of you that don't know
what it means to implement a Six Sigma initiative,
visit the SBTI website. Very simply, Six Sigma is a
statistical measure of the performance of a process
or product characteristic compared to a specification
level. A Six Sigma level process would exhibit no more
than 3.4 defects per million opportunities. Very few
processes achieve this level of performance and con
sequently most organizations endure very high costs
due to poor quality.
