Award Winning Design

Isn't it great to be recognized? Last week, I picked up the local newspaper and read an article about a local artist that won a gold medal in a national competition for designing an admissions catalog. There were 2200 entries! Wow, what an accomplishment. Marc Tolen of Creative Graphics is the art director for the brochure. For years, Marc has been designing catalogs, brochures and other marketing material for the United States Military Academy at West Point. His work is spectacular. I met Marc years ago when he was coaching Little League with my husband. When I started my business, Marc designed my logo, letterhead, envelopes, etc. Recently, Marc designed my new CD covers. Marc is not only incredibly talented but easy to work with. If any of you are looking for a gifted graphic designer, give Marc a call today.

Greetings!

Don't you just love Spring? It's a time for a fresh start. I think that's why so many people do Spring cleaning, to get rid of the cobwebs and dust. When was the last time that you cleaned your workspace? Cleaned out those file cabinets? Cleaned your desktop? An organized workspace leads to calmness. Calmness is good! We can all use a bit of calmness in our busy lives. Happy Spring!

Work/Life Tip - Take a Mental Health Day

When was the last time you indulged yourself and did something you love? Not something your spouse loves to do or something your kids love to do but something that you love to do. Here are a few ideas: stay home and watch an old movie, go on a hike, meditate, take a bubble bath, call an old friend, go shopping, visit a museum, pray, paint, garden, write in a journal, build a bird house, take a nap in the middle of the day, go to a crafts fair, put on your favorite music and dance, color with your kids, write in a journal, make a scrap book or just do nothing!

Is a Speaking Career in Your Future?

Every time that I speak to an audience, someone comes up to me afterwards and tells me, "I want to do what you do for a living." My response is always the same, "So, what's stopping you?" Then we have a conversation right away or I tell the person to call me if they are serious about starting a career as a professional speaker. I love to talk with people about the business of speaking. There are two critical questions for a speaker to think about: 1. What do you want to talk about? What is your passion? 2. Who is going to pay you to talk about the topic? A few years ago, I delivered a workshop called How to Break Into the Speaking Business and Earn a Six Figure Income . I'm thinking of offering the workshop again this June if there is any interest. If you are interested in participating or know of someone that is, please send an e-mail to regina@reginaclark.com

Is Six Sigma right for your organization

For years, major companies like GE, Motorola, and Johnson and Johnson have been using Six Sigma initiatives to help boost their business results. My first experience with a Six Sigma roll out was with Allied Signal in 1997. I was asked to help the Black Belts improve their presentation skills. Since then, I have partnered with Six Sigma consulting firms, primarily SBTI, that are experts in delivering technical traininig. My role has been to coach Black Belts, Master Black Belts and Green Belts regarding their communication, training and influencing skills. I also facilitate Train the Trainer programs for Six Sigma instructors. Six Sigma thinking is about reducing the amount of defects in a process. It's a methodology that not only makes good business sense but it's easy to implement. If you are interested in finding out more about implementing a Six Sigma initiative and whether or not it's right for your organization, please give me a call today.
