President's Message

Greetings for the last time!

September 30th, 2012 is the last day of my Presidency for ASID Ohio North. While I was nervous to take on this large responsibility, I have come to love it! ASID has imparted to me a new found love of my profession and my fellow professionals. We are an organization with such amazing talents, viewpoints and intelligence. The diversity of interests, opinions, and problem solving skills is without end. I have learned as much as I have educated. This role with it responsibilities, deadlines and challenges has given me the opportunity to reach out to students and see their excitement for the profession they have yet to start in. I have gotten to know my fellow professionals better, especially those who have served on this year's board. I have loved getting to know and working with this team of people who make all of our events and outings happen:

2011-12 ASID Ohio North Board
President Elect
Cristina McCarthy, Allied ASID

Directors
Tracy Hartong, Allied ASID
Terra MacLeod, ASID
Lisa Thomas, Allied ASID
Lisa Perfetto, Industry Partner Rep to the Board
Kathy Pietrick, Industry Partner Rep to the Board
Sue Kroll, Student ASID

Emerging Professional Liaison
Kaleigh Cody, Allied ASID

Chapter Administrator
Susan Kiel

I thank all of those who have served on our board and committees - but I want to give a huge thank you to the un-sung heroes of our Chapter. This is a select, but large group who don't get mentioned often, but I will thank them today. To the spouses, significant-others, friends who provide structural support, families, and even our bosses, this group of people help all of us, help this chapter to function and run as well as it does.

My lists of thank you's are for those who have helped me this year and every year with no big reward, just a little thank you from me.

* My Mom, Mary Amonett, who has been my home and my support for every year of my life, but especialy this year!

* My Nieces and Nephews, who always have hug for me- even on the hardest of days.

* My Mentor, Jim Vrabel- he is hard, but he is fair.

* My Girlfriends, Shannon Bradick and Heather McCollum- who have eaten many dinners with me.

* To Susan Kiel and Cristina McCarthy who have taught me to keep calm. (You will have great year, next year together!)

* To my support group, you have my deepest thank-you!

The new Board for 2012-2013 is an equally amazing group of professionals, so you are in Great Hands! Cristina will be a wonderful leader, so make sure to welcome her to this new role for her!

Don't think I will be falling off the radar, as I will always attend monthly socials and our CEU's. I look forward to having socials at the next new location and going back to our favorite locations for a beverage and a bit of time with all of you! (Velvet Tango Room!)

I am not sure what will be my next step, but I know I will start it off with a bang by doing my first trip to Europe! I will be visiting Germany, Switzerland and Barcelona, Spain! If you have food or site seeing suggestions for me- do not hesitate to e-mail them to me!

Again, I thank all of you for your support, guidance, great ideas and never-ending faith in me.

Sincerely,

Rita Amonett, ASID
2011-2012 ASID Ohio North Chapter President
