President's Message

Greetings!

What an amazing summer, so much hot weather that I hope it makes up for our cold winters!

We had a wonderful time at the Winery at Wolf Creek during our Industry Partner appreciation evening. Wolf Creek had surprising wines on hand, with my favorite ---Original Sin. (Apple wine- it is an unexpected pleasure.) Everyone who attended brought a little food something to share and a great enthusiasm to spend time together. We all had a wonderful time, so make sure you tell Terra MacLeod, ASID, a big thank you for planning that event!

Looking forward - Kathy Pietrick, Industry Partner Representative, has a great social planned for August 22nd at Georgetown Restaurant in Lakewood. Once again we have the opportunity to have a simple and quick bit of fellowship away from the daily grind!

We have had and will continue to have some great CEU opportunities this summer with companies such as: Pratt & Lambert, Hinkley Light, and Sherwin Williams. We hope to have a few more in the works, but they might be in the fall! Make sure you take at least one night off to come out and learn something new.

The Annual Meeting will be September 19th at Contessa Gallery at Legacy Village. We are looking forward to a fun event in an exciting space with Jill Arena, art associate at Contessa Gallery. Stoneworks Ltd, Industry Partner ASID will also be joining in with hosting duties!

The Annual Meeting functions as our last official meeting for this fiscal year as we thank our outgoing board and swear in new board members. Secondly, and very importantly, this event is our fund raiser for the ASID Foundation. The ASID Foundation supports endeavors that capture and disseminate knowledge, encourage innovation, and benefit the health, safety and welfare of the public through interior design research, scholarships and education. The proceeds from tickets sales and the Chinese auction go straight to the foundation as our annual donation to a foundation. If you would like to donate an auction item or give a monetary donation, simple contact any board member or the chapter office for details. Thank you for your support of this event for the last several years and we hope to see you again this year!

Don't forget to sign up for RWDW!!! This is a great mentor program for practitioners and industry partners to host a student for 1 day.

Industry Partner Spotlight ~ Daso Cabinetry

More than a decade ago I began building cabinetry out of a small garage for friends and family. I quickly realized my passion for making furniture and the rewarding conclusion of installing a project that I had built. With a dedication to my craft and passion for my work, word spread and my business quickly grew. Today, Daso Custom Cabinetry is no longer making cabinetry out of a garage; we have a 10,000 square foot manufacturing and finishing facility with a showroom. We currently employ over 20 people, majority have been with us since the beginning and we all share that same passion that began in that small garage over 10 years ago. We are certainly not the largest cabinetry company in the in the area and I don't claim to be the best. What I will claim is our quality of workmanship with customer service that is setting a new standard in the cabinetry industry and we are here to stay. I personally oversee every project from beginning to end, so you can be assured that you're getting the individual attention you deserve.
