President's Message
Greetings and Welcome to summer!
As a follow up to my suggestion on investing in yourself: Here is an inexpensive tip to keep your skills sharp. I have recently been taking a variety of classes via on-line tutorials on Lynda.com. They are great regardless of your skill level, as they have classes for a novice, or an expert. (They even have a fun documentary on Mark Mothersbaugh, from the band DEVO- which is a MUST view). You can take these classes at your convenience, and only watch the segments of interest to you, pause them and actually work on your computer as you go. Here is the link to a 7 day free trial: lynda.com. Try it FREE for 7 days-you will like it!
When you are ready to get out of the office and meet up with us, we have a couple events that everyone can attend.
- We have social networking at The Market on June 28th.
- Our Second Annual Industry Appreciation Event will be on July 17th at Wolf Creek Winery. This event is special, as it is our time to say "Thank You" to our Industry Partners who do so much to support our events for us all year round. Please stop into this event, consider bringing an appetizer, and say a few Thank-you's. Contact Terra MacLeod, ASID at tmmacleod@gmail.com, if you have questions.
Behind the scenes the Leadership Board for our chapter has been furiously working on events, growth, and new leadership training. Cristina McCarthy, Allied ASID and Laura Gills, ASID, recently attended a national leadership training with all the incoming Presidents and President Elects. We have been completing the Strategic Plan for 2012-2013 and working through our budget for next year. We will also have training for our Leadership Board in August. We also are considering a number of CEU opportunities this summer. So keep your eyes peeled for those dates!
This is just the beginning of summer, so have fun and enjoy it!
Sincerely, Rita Amonett, ASID 2011-2012 ASID Ohio North Chapter President
