The CTI-CFF Interim Regional Secretariat reflects on the achievements of 2011 and urges all CT6 countries, partners and stakeholders to continue the good work to ensure that major milestones planned for 2012 are achieved.

One roadmap will guide us through programmatic, constructive events and direct actions; and the other is for legal and financial processes toward the establishment of the permanent Regional Secretariat. The programmatic roadmap becomes a common responsibility for both member countries and partners; but the legal processes become an internal challenge of commitment for the six member countries of the CTI-CFF. The year of 2012 will witness how the countries can overcome that challenge," CTI Executive Chairman Suseno Sukoyono said. MORE |

"Ask-an-Expert" is an interactive service of the CTI-CFF website that provides answers to your questions by tapping the expertise among the many CTI-CFF Learning Networks, experts and partners. To ask a question click here Q: What is the CTI-CFF Marine Protected Area (MPA) System and how can my MPA be involved? A: The CTI-CFF MPA System or CTMPAS is only in its initial stages of definition and development. The CTI Regional Plan of Action Goal #3 calls for a CT MPA System to be established and fully operational by 2020. The first step in the process of having a CTMPAS established is to agree on a common definition of what will constitute a CTMPAS and what are the criteria for including individual MPAs and MPA networks in the "system." MOREQ: How can local governments get more actively involved in the CTI-CFF? A: The CTI-CFF recognizes the significance of engaging local governments among many stakeholders who are at the forefront of resource management and protection - two critical management functions if effectively carried out can potentially add up to accomplishing CTI-CFF goals in a larger scale. At the regional level, one of the initiatives where local governments can actively participate in is through the CTI Local Governance Network (CTI LGN).
