Fall Fund Drive- Restore Anser!

The Fall Fund drive is really heating up and many families have donated! We are so grateful for the donations we have received so far, as each one gets us closer to our $45,000 goal. Remember all money raised in the Fall Fund Drive goes to support those unique aspects of Anser such as Adventure, CBC, SOS and more. With the budget cuts of the last three years, Anser now receives approximately $120,000 less than we did before. Help insure your student can still enjoy the many great opportunities Anser provides by donating to the Fall Fund Drive today!

Thank you to the following families for their donations: Steve and Jennifer Clayton,Dolly and Brian Higgins, Brain Wampler and Paula Perry. Teresa and Tom Schmalz, Suzanne and Gerry Gregg, Marc and Barb Cline, Georgina Brown and Tamra Fife, Sal and Heather Banuelos, John and Stacy Slattery, Ruth Thayer, Marc and Alyssa Munch, Erin and Matt McCarter, Greg Sutton and Hamilton Warren-Sutton, Dana and Matt Kelly, Sid and Laura Anderson,Jason Miller, Ollie and Laurisa Lusby, Bob and Barb Rogers, James Kelly, Jane Wittmeyer, Jay Dark and Suzanne Janzen, Paul and Darilyn Dircksen, Amy and John Taylor, Christopher Wylie and Helene Belanger, Frank Culbertson and Donna Harmans, Dave and Jill Wagers, Kym and Jeff Hills.

Math Night for Parents!

Parents are in for a treat the evening of November 15 beginning at 6:30.  Dr. Jonathan Brendefer, a Boise State University professor, who started the Developing Mathematical Thinking (DMT)  project will be our guest speaker.  The DMT Project was started in 2004. The project orginally partnered with three schools in the Boise, Caldwell, and Emmett communities of southwestern Idaho and is now an excepted way of teaching mathematics in the state of Idaho.  In fact, every teacher who becomes certified in Idaho must take the class for certification.  Dr. Brendefer worked with Anser teachers in 2003-2004 as well, when he had two daughters attending the school.   Dr. Brendefer has conducted research in the area of mathematics for many years and has seen proven results in the improvement in students' mathematical thinking and schools' test scores.  Parents will have an opportunity to listen to Dr. Brendefer, ask questions, then go into their child's classroom to learn about Anser's math program and to experience some of the ways in which we "do math" at Anser.  Plan early...this is something you do not want to miss!

New parent orientation

New parent orientation is for the parents of all new Anser students. Also if your family has been here for a year or you missed orientation last year and you still have questions about how we approach school, you are encouraged to attend. Please join us on Saturday, September, 29 from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM in the Jr. High science classroom at Anser.

We will spend some time hearing from teachers, parents, and students about how Anser is different than other schools and take time to answer your questions. Come learn how we got started, how we teach math, and why we emphasize character education. This is a parent only event. Refreshments will be served.

If you plan to attend please RSVP to Mike Denney at 571-6274 or family.denney@gmail.com

JH Service Opportunity's

Junior High students who are interested in creating and running a "carnival booth" for the YMCA's annual Halloween Carnival on October 26th from 5-8 pm please contact Heather Banuelos. This will require designing, submitting a plan and working to execute this on the final night. Several service hours are possible. We will need a parent who is willing to chaperone the students as well.

Jr. High students are needed to help decorate Harvest Festival Banners on Tuesday, October 2nd from 3:30-5:30 . We are in need of 5 kids and 1 parent helper to volunteer to help paint. If you or your child is interested in volunteering please contact Jasmine Stoker at jazzy_ginger@hotmail.com or 208-571-1879.

CBC NEEDS A CO-COORDINATOR:

If your child is in the Science and Art Exploration CBC, we need a parent who is willing to co-coordinate with a new Anser parent who has been coordinating over the past two weeks. She has done an amazing job, but I feel an extra parent in there to show her the ropes would be appreciated. If you are interested, please contact Heather Banuelos

 The Anser Garden:

Come and check out the winter squash display in the Anser Garden.  The kids helped unload and arrange a whole lot of winter squash and pumpkins from Daisy Erskine's parents farm, The Peaceful Belly.  The kids had fun carrying them, finding places for them to go and then identifying them. They were amazed to see all the different kinds.   Pumpkins will be for sale this year at the Harvest Ball and all proceeds go to the school!!!

Junior High Opening:

We currently have an opening in Junior High. If you know any families with 7th or 8th grade students, be sure to let them know to put in a lottery application right away! Full enrollment is Anser's best tool for financial success, so we greatly appreciate you spreading the word about this opening to anyone you think might be interested.
