 | Fall Fund Drive- Restore Anser!
| | |

Hopefully this past weekend you received a letter from Anser regarding this year's Fall Fund Drive and our goal to raise $45,000. We hope you will read the materials, as they explain the budget cuts Anser has endured and how you can help restore our funding. You can track the progress toward the goal by checking out the tree on the bulletin board in the main hallway. As we meet fundraising milestones we will be giving away prizes as a thank you to our donors, so be sure to get your donation, or your monthly pledge in today! This week Julie and Bladimir Bu and Gregg Burrington and Alice Antonioli won $25 gift cards, donated by Flying M! Thank you to the following families for their donations to the Fall Fund Drive this week: Teresa and Tom Schmalz, Nancy and Erin Brennan, Brent Pitts and Andi Saucerman-Pitts, Mary Kallmeyer, and Evan and Kelly Lee.

 | Junior High Electives begin this coming Thursday, September 27th:
| | |
Junior High Electives begin this coming Thursday, September 27th. We are still in need of parents to chaperone and drive. Please sign up to drive or chaperone at the following link:
http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0B45AEAB2AA20-junior
We are piloting the use of this sign-up genius to coordinate drivers and parent chaperones for the elective sessions. If you are available to help out or drive, please sign up in the space provided. If you are planning to drive, please list the number of students you can transport in your vehicle. *students must all use a shoulder and lap belt when riding in a vehicle, no-one under the age of 13 may ride in the front seat* If your child's elective is not in need of a parent because it is filled, you can see the other electives that are in need of drivers or chaperones and sign up. This also gives a view of the whole track. If you would like to see what elective your child is in, please click on http://www.ansercharterschool.org/curriculum/junior-high-electives/jh-elective-forms/ This is a password protected portion of the school website, if you do not know your password or cannot access this part of the site, please contact Abby McLean or Heather Dennis.
Thank you for all you do to keep Electives great!
Do you have brightly colored latex paint hanging around your garage? Junior high electives is in need of some colorful latex paint for a junior high hallway mural project. If you have some brightly colored paint, please bring it to Heather Banuelos' office.
Thanks!

 | CBC was a success:
| | |
CBC was a success this week. You should have received an email from the module coordinators for your child's group detailing any needs for CBC, including need for drivers or chaperones. Click on the link below to sign up for a CBC session.
http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0B45AEAB2AA20-cbchaving In the sections provided, you can add your module drivers and volunteers or parents you can add yourself if you see an area that is in need, even if the module does not include your child. This is a new tool and I am hoping it will help us to cover all of our bases for drivers and parent chaperones each week. Thank you again for making CBC great! Heather

 | Dress for the weather:
| | |
Have your child dress for the weather and the classroom! Now that it is getting chillier in the mornings we are finding students coming to school with no jacket, etc. They want to come in the building in the morning because they are "cold." It is our expectations students will stay outside in the mornings unless their parents are with them. Staff uses this important time getting ready for the day in order to deliver a high quality program for your child. We appreciate your support in this endeavor. This is also a reminder to make sure you are sending students to school in the appropriate attire for the classroom. Please read this section in the handbook to refresh dress code expectations. A couple of areas in which we have spoken to students about is: 1) shorts should be no shorter than their longest finger when arms are placed at their sides and 2) no 'spaghetti 'strap tops.

 | The Anser Garden: | | |
The Anser Garden will get underway this coming week with a great donation of pumpkins and winter squash, corn and straw all donated by the Peaceful Belly Farm. We will be identifying all the different types and then creating a display, where we can later place our annual scare crows. Pumpkins will be available to buy again, this year at the Harvest Ball on October 20th. All the funds generated for this will go to the school, so THANK YOU Peaceful Belly Farm.
The Garden is in need of some TLC this fall to get it revived for next spring. The beds need some new soil added to them and the Butterfly garden needs to be neatened up. If you are interested in coming to help with these two tasks, please contact Melissa Frazier at gardenseasonings@cableone.net Also, if you are interested in coming to volunteer to garden with the kids during their lunch recess, please let me know. Happy Fall!

 | Reminder about animals at Anser:
| |
We love animals...but it has been a long time expectation at Anser (from the time in the other building) that animals (dogs, cats, etc.) not be allowed on campus unless they are a service animal. We apologize for not having this in the hand book or putting it in the Flight Plan over the years as we now realize many of our families did not know about this practice. As a public school it is our intent to keep all students safe. Over the years we have had students who are afraid of animals brought on campus as well as students being allergic. We would hate to have a student startle your family pet and have it run away or bite a child because of unfamiliar territory. We hope all you animal lovers out there understand our rationale and our reasons for not allowing animals on campus.

 | Survey from the Idaho Council on Developmental Disabilities:
| | |
The Idaho Council on Developmental Disabilities is currently working on an inclusive education initiative. As part of this work we are conducting statewide surveys of parents who have school-age children with and without disabilities. Parents may remain anonymous or provide their contact information to receive future information.
Thank you very much.
Please take a moment to complete a survey for parents of school-aged children regarding perceptions about students with disabilities. We want to hear from as many parents as possible, not just parents of children with disabilities. https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/icdd
