 Fall Fund Drive- Restore Anser!

At Back-To-School Night we kicked off the annual Fall Fund Drive. This year's goal is to raise $45,000 to help "Restore" Anser funding that has been cut due to State budget cuts. This money is critical to maintaining Anser's quality programs and is included in our annual budget. Your support is critical to our success. You will be receiving a letter in the next week including information about Anser funding and the Fall Fund Drive. We ask that you review those materials right away, and that you consider making a donation or a monthly pledge to the Fall Fund Drive. Each week we will list the names of those families who have donated in the Flight Plan and be sure to watch the "Anser Tree" on the Family Council bulletin board, where we will chart our progress toward our $45,000 goal. Along the way we will raffle off prizes, so be sure to donate early so your name will be entered in all of the raffles! Thank you to the following families for their donations: Alice Antonioli and Gregg Burrington, Dan Stout and Becky Marks-Stout, Rebecca Blackwell and Stuart Ford, Tom and Tamara Donovan, Julie and Bladimir Bu, Scott and Sarah Stine, Jasun and Angie Temple, Suzanne and Jerry Gregg, Mike and Heather Dennis.

Infinite Campus:

Anser has transitioned to Infinite Campus as our Student Information System. This transition has been a big undertaking and we are still working out the kinks that occur whenever you implement a new system. For those of you that already have older siblings in the Boise School District, you may notice that your Anser student's name also appears in your account, but no information is displayed. Anser will use Infinite Campus as an online grade book, that families can use to access the grades of their Junior High students, after the first quarter. We will also use Infinite Campus to print mailing labels. Please be aware that due to restrictions in the system it only allows us to address the labels to one parent per household. (Parents who live separately from each other will still each get a letter). Please don't take offense, it is merely a system limitation and our intent is that parents understand that all communication is meant for both parents. When we are ready to allow parents access to the Junior High grade book we will send out account information for your use.

Survey from the Idaho Council on Developmental Disabilities:

The Idaho Council on Developmental Disabilities is currently working on an inclusive education initiative. As part of this work we are conducting statewide surveys of parents who have school-age children with and without disabilities. Parents may remain anonymous or provide their contact information to receive future information.

Thank you very much.

Please take a moment to complete a survey for parents of school-aged children regarding perceptions about students with disabilities.  We want to hear from as many parents as possible, not just parents of children with disabilities.

Habits of an Academic Scholar, Habits of a Citizen Scholar and Habits of a Learner Scholar:

Your children may be coming home using new phrases this school year! Phrases they will become very familiar with this year are: Habits of an Academic Scholar, Habits of a Citizen Scholar and Habits of a Learner Scholar. We want our students to know; it is "good to be smart," that being an individual with strong character is expected, and that learner readiness is important for future success. These habits will be explicitly taught in the classroom, will be graded on report cards, and will be practiced by students on an everyday basis. Student success will be celebrated by our community.

Over the next several weeks, and into the school year, staff will explore these various habits with our students. By the end of the year, our hope is that all community members (students, staff and families) understand and practice such habits on a consistent basis.

Students who consistently show the above habits by receiving an overall report card grade of 3.5 (our grading system will be explained in a future Flight Plan)or higher (Academic Scholar - 5th-8th grade only) will be recognized at the end of every grading period by: 1) being recognized at Whole School Community and 2) receiving a Certificate of Accomplishment.

Any student who has maintained an academic grade of 4.0 or an A average for JH during the school year (5th-8th only) will be recognized by having their name placed on a permanent plaque in the front hallway. Students in grades K-8th will also be recognized in the same way in they maintain a grade of 4.0 in the areas of being a Citizen Scholar or Learner Scholar. Names will remain on the plaque for the current year and new names will be added each year, thereafter.

The Academic standards align to the Common Core State Standards, which can be viewed by clicking on the following link http://www.sde.idaho.gov/site/common/  The habits of a Citizen and Learner Scholar may be found on the Anser website within the next week.

Stamm, Au.D., CCC-A. Following the screening, I will contact parents IF there are concerns in any of these areas. I am looking for two volunteers to help transition crew members from their classrooms to the screening location. Please contact me if you are available to participate in this process. amy.zuroff@boiseschools.org Volunteer Time 1: 8:45-12:00, September 17 Volunteer Time 2: 12:30-3:00, September 17
