| Anser to be highlighted in KTVB School Choice program: | | |
This Thursday, February 9th, from 9:00pm-10:00pm KTVB, channel 7 will air a special on "School Choice in Idaho." They will highlight a few different schools and one of them is Anser! So be sure to tune in and be sure to tell your friends to watch as well. We are very proud of our students who were courageous enough to speak on camera about their experience at the school. So mark your calendars and set your DVRs to tune in!

| Junior High Winter Adventure: | | |
Junior high needs volunteers to drive and chaperone for Winter Adventure. Please look for the flyer coming home with students this week. If you can help, please contact Kelly Mcleod at kmcleod@ansercharterschool.org.

What: Snow shoeing and winter survival
Where: Bogus Basin Nordic Center
When: February 27 (boys) and February 28 (girls)
Time : Leave ANSER at 8:30 am, return by 3:15 pm

| Literacy Lab from 1st-12th grade students: | | When: Tuesday's and Thursday's 4:30-5:30 February 28th - May 10th 2012
Where: E-520 Education Building- BSU
What: Literacy Lab is one-on-one tutorial . Our goal is to create "just right" conditions to help 1st-12th grade students gain independence and confidence in their literacy skills while also improving their overall literacy.

| Anser Auction: Don't forget about your auction donations. It can't happen without YOU!

Get your donations in by Feb 29th for your free entry into the family council raffle. After the 29th raffle tickets will be available for $10 each.
Remember to sign up on the auction board to help. There are lots of opportunities big and small to choose from.
We can't make this event happen without your help.

| 2012 Roaring Readers Program: | |
ANSER students have the opportunity to earn a full day pass for Roaring Springs Waterpark, a value of $28.00. And it's so easy! Students in grades K-4 read 600 minutes and students in grades 5-6 read 800 minutes. Record time read on the Student Chart form. Turn the form in to your teacher by April 2nd. | BOX TOPS for Education:
| | We are still collecting box tops for education. There are well over 200 products that participate in the Box Tops for Education program - everything from cereal to frozen food, paper towels to office and school supplies and even trash bags! To jump start the effort, Sam has deposited 200 box tops in the collection box and has posted a list of participating products on the bulletin board next to it. Let's start filling that collection box and earn some cash for ANSER!

| Anser Chili Social:

The Chili Social will be on FEBRUARY 25 at 7:00pm at the Boys and Girls Club. Get your sitter lined up soon because this is an adult only event! There will be music, Wii dancing, magic and more!!!

Although it is still months away, Anser would like to have a large team for the 20th anniversary of the Women's Fitness Celebration. This year it will be held on Saturday, September 22nd. | SOS- One by One Foundation

- Please consider donating to One by One Foundation. We are collecting summer clothing for the 23 orphans that are currently getting sponsored by the foundation. These children are ages 5 to 16. Their needs are many, so please help them in this small way. You can start your spring cleaning early and give us your gently used summer clothes and shoes.
- We will have 2 collection boxes available for your items OR we will come to you.

Talia Martinez, Danika Chandler-Hass and Stella Davidson-Musser will be selling Make A Wish Foundation stars for $1 beginning the week of January 30th through Feb 19th.
They will be selling them at lunches on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. Don't forget to bring your money and help support a great cause!

| JH Electives: Looking for Service Hours?

We need 4-6 students to act as Ambassadors at the Idaho Environmental Education Association conference Friday evening banquet, on March 2nd . Students would act as greeters and man welcome tables at the event. They are invited to stay after for a performance by the Missoula Children's Theater. Set-up begins at 6:30. | Jr High Service Project: Ian Zeleski and Bryan Kaes | | |
Ian and Bryan are doing a coin drive to sponsor two athletes who live in a group home and have no family to pay for them. It is their goal to raise $120.00 for the Special Olympics and sponsor the two of them.

Youth council came up with the ANSER fun days, usually designated the day before a long weekend.
February 15th - Crazy hat and hair day
March 22 - Hawaiian Day - wear your favorite tropical gear!
April 19th - Twin day - dress like one of your friends!
TBD whole school - crew colors day - each crew wears a different color, further details will come

Since so many families are new to Anser, Family Council will feature a regular Word-of-the-Week in the Flight Plan. We hope this helps folks become more familiar with all of the acronyms, design principles, and lingo of our school. Here's the word of the week: Professional Development/Staff Development-
Opportunities for our teachers and staff to receive training to enhance their professional skills. This may include time to meet to collaborate and reflect on their work in the classroom.
