Solve Global Poverty by Serving in Your Own Backyard

Throughout the month of October teams of Project Revive and Global Hope Network partners are joining with Boulder's homeless population to serve the elderly and home-bound in our community through yard work. In a follow-up to the successful Boulder Creek Clean-up in 2010 (see "Project Revive in the News"), we are, once again, bringing together teams from all walks of life to work for a global good.

It's not too late to register your own team to participate in ServeHope 2011! You can also find a local team to join or sponsor. For more information about how you can be involved in ServeHope, click here: http://servehope.ghni.org/.

Cityscape How Clean Are Your Tomatoes?

Author Brian McLaren makes an argument for local, sustainable, and fairly produced foods in

Dirty Tomatoes: A Spiritual and Dietary Proposal. McLaren provides a peek into the life of two tomato pickers in Florida who are part of a larger movement to raise the price of tomatoes one penny per pound. The raise would be passed directly to the workers, who currently make minimum wage.

Regardless of whether you abide by religious or other dietary restrictions, McLaren encourages his readers to consider whether the grocery stores you frequent are ethically clean.

We hope you found some inspiration this month! We would love to hear your thoughts and ideas. If you have a project you would like to see implemented in your city, send us an e-mail; we would love to help support your plan for city revival.

Thanks for reading!

Sincerely,

The Project Revive Team

Give to Project Revive!

In the spirit of collaboration, Project Revive is provides financial support to local non-profit organizations to allow them to better serve and improve our cities. Our partner organizations vary but must be committed to our Guiding Principals. Our own financial needs are minimal, enabling us to partner with small organizations, sponsor your projects, and spread the inspiration.
