 Greetings!

It's time again for the Colorado Summit on Blended Learning. This is DK's third year hosting the summit, and the event is bigger than ever before. We're stretching it over three days to allow for more intimate, focused conversations, and the entire summit is available via live webinar. Read more and sign up below!

You may have noticed, DK's got a new look! Along with it, we also have a new website, featuring regular blog posts from all of us here at DK (today's post is by Associate Director Kim Knous Dolan). And from now on, you can find the latest event registration information on our homepage.

Our latest Hot Lunch speaker Peg Hoey gave a talk last week about her unique, personalized school system, Kunskapsskolan. Established in Sweden, the school has since expanded to New York and London.

Cheers & Happy Spring,

Register for Day Two of the Blended Learning Summitblended

On April 24th, from 12:30 - 6:00 pm at the University of Colorado Denver, the second day of the 2012 summit will focus on professional development, teacher certification and district support of blended learning. Florida Virtual School's Chief Learning Officer Felicia Ryerson will kick off the day. eNet Colorado's Dan Morris will be a part of a panel moderated by Ryerson, and he wrote a blog post about why professional development for blended learning needs attention:

"As a lifelong educator and teacher I believe that there is no doubt that online and blended learning will be a part of all teachers' work week and necessary skill set in the future. But I also know that the educational system, from the classroom all the way to the state level, is going to have to do a much better job of helping teachers, students, and parents through this transition."

DK's new website will feature regularly updated blog posts from DK's staff and our friends. Today, Associate Director Kim Knous Dolan shares some thoughts around reducing redundancies in the public education system. Here's an excerpt:

"What a gift it would be for state policy leaders to clean up the books and clear the pathway for people to focus on educating kids without the headaches of system inefficiencies. Certainly, it would be ideal if this could be extended to the federal level as well, but as a starting point, the work should begin at the state."
