Nutritional Therapy and Healthy Eating Coaching
|
We recently welcomed Jos Swingler to the Ambition team. Jos is a recent Graduate in Health Sciences (Nutritional Therapy) and has taken on a role as our Nutritional Therapist and Healthy Eating Advisor. Jos' approach is all about getting results and if you are serious about making dietary changes or if your interest is solely in fat loss he would love to meet with you. If you are a patient of the clinic and/or recovering from injury or pain it is important that you provide your body with the right nutrients to aid tissue growth and recovery. It is essential to place as much emphasis upon what you put into your mouth as how much you are committed to rehabilitation or burning calories while training. On that point, It's also not as simple as calories in equals' calories out, that simply is wrong information. Jos will explain the real mechanics of Health and Nutrition and highlight the positive effects effect of some foods and the devastating impact of other so called healthy foods.

Appointment Booking and Tracking System |
You may have noticed in recent months that our bookings and appointments system has been through some changes and has improved a great deal , (dare I say it) with confirmation emails and reminders being key features amongst other useful things. You will be pleased to know we have now reduced the number of emails that are being generated to only those that appear necessary, so thank you for your patience. We have a real-time link to all your appointment information so that you can ask us at any time how many sessions you have had or how many you have left. We will also soon be able to allow on-line bookings via the Internet for some services but will mail you nearer the time with further information.

Cardio Training Versus Resistance Training - What's Better for Fat Loss
|
Spending endless hours doing Cardiovascular Training is a very time consuming way to manage weight or to achieve significant Fat loss. Unfortunately your body adapts quite quickly to the mode of training and the results you achieve at the beginning of your training start to become harder to maintain as the body adapts to the stimulus. A much better way to achieve lasting weight management is to participate in a full body Resistance Training Program 3 times per week designed to increase your total lean muscle which will stimulate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) allowing you to burn more calories at rest. For example, if you spend 1 hour Cycling moderately on a Stationary Bike a 205lb man may only burn 677 calories ( source; American College of Sports Medicine). That's tough love, if you would have burned around half of those through BMR anyhow. To achieve best results, take a Body Composition Assessment, build up the lean muscle, sort out the diet, maintain discipline and the results will come faster and stay around for longer.
