Small Steps in Speech, Inc is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to helping children with speech and language disorders take the steps needed to be better communicators.
Through public support we provide grants on behalf of children for therapies, various communication treatments, communicative devices, and other services to improve their communication. Many of the children we help would go without these services or they could otherwise present a financial hardship for their family.

The Growth of Small Steps in Speech
We are proud to say that in the 3½ years since our founding, through your support, we are fulfilling the mission of this organization beyond our expectations!
Grants to Children
From our humble beginning, SSIS was focused on our mission and making an impact on the lives of children with speech and language disorders and their families.
In 2010, SSIS received 24 applications for assistance. 14 children were granted a total of $35,907 to help them become better communicators. Our small volunteer Board of Directors was elated that just a year after our founding we were already making an impact. -But we knew that there was still a greater need for our support.
In 2011, 85 applications were received, 3 times more than 2010! Over $58,000 was granted in 2011 to 35 children, more than a 60% increase in funds granted than 2010.
2012 is not slowing down! To date, in 2012 we have received 118 applications! 39 grants have been approved for a total of over $59,000 granted so far in 2012! (Some of the 118 applications are still in the approval process.) This already surpasses our success from 2011!

Oktoberfest Fall Fundraiser!
Are you located in the NJ area? Join us for our 3rd annual fall fundraiser, Oktoberfest! Bring your family and friends for a evening of fun, food, drinks and music, while supporting a great cause! Feast on traditional German fare; including potato salad, sausages, sauerkraut, pretzels, beer, and more! Door prizes, a blackjack table, and silent auction will add to the fun!
When: Saturday, September 29th, 6pm-9pm
Where: The Paint Works at Lakeside Manor, 10 Foster Ave, Gibbsboro, NJ 08026
Tickets: $35 purchased by credit card or PayPal, $40 purchased at the door

Yesterday when I told Cason that he would be returning to speech, he jumped and yelled, "Yes!". It is the generosity of your organization that gives children to reach their potential.
Child X, who will receive the therapy that your award provides, has faced very serious and very tragic circumstances, made even worse by the consideration that she is not yet five years old. Your generous gift will provide her with critical skills that will help her to build the foundation she needs to live a successful and happy life.
This speech grant for our 9yr old daughter who has Down Syndrome is a huge blessing and will help her communicate better with her peers and teachers. We were almost to the point of having to stop her therapy because our insurance wasn't covering it.
Thank you SO much for allowing XX to attend Camp Shout Out for his second summer. Because of his family's limited means he would not have been able to attend without a scholarship from Small Steps in Speech.

The 4th annual On Your Marc 5k run/walk was held on Saturday, August 4th. Thanks to all of our sponsors, this event just gets bigger and better every year! Over 570 people participated in the run to raise $37,000 for Small Steps in Speech!

Speech Language Pathologists - if you know of any child who would benefit from financial assistance to help with their communication where insurance does not cover, nominate them today!

Small Steps in Speech is publicly funded through individual donations and fundraising activities. We invite you to support our work with children through either an individual donation, by participating in one of our fundraising activities or by holding your own fundraiser to support Small Steps in Speech.
