Ten Years, Five Strategies, and
A Thousand Little Things

"Eckerd College has made remarkable progress over the past decade toward its ambition to provide the finest possible undergraduate experience. This progress has resulted not from one great masterstroke but from a committed community doing a thousand little things to carry out the key strategies for success."

Dr. Donald R. Eastman III
, president of Eckerd College, distributed copies of his tenth anniversary report at a recent board of trustees meeting. The campus community is invited to view the online version; faculty and staff will be receiving copies via campus mail over the next few days.

Staff and Faculty Appreciation

All staff and faculty are invited to attend the annual Staff and Faculty Appreciation Luncheon on Wednesday, October 26, from 12 - 1:30 pm in Fox Hall. Find out who has been on board for 5, 10, 15, and even 40 years. (Hint: he has been around as long as EC-SAR!). The Staff Member of the Year award will also be presented.

Cell Phones for Soldiers
(From the desk of Sustainability Fellow Evan Bollier '11)

Eckerd College is proud to participate in Cell Phones for Soldiers, a program that recycles old cell phones and turns the profits into prepaid calling cards for soldiers abroad. The donations are sent to ReCellular, which pays Cell Phones for Soldiers for each phone - enough to provide an hour of talk time to soldiers abroad! Actual cell phones are not sent abroad. However, if you wish to erase your phone's data, visit ReCellular's free data eraser for simple instructions before donating.

Drop off your broken, unused or old cell phones at one of the following locations in the designated Cell Phones for Soldiers bins across campus:
Armacost Library,
Campus Safety, Facilities Management break room, Human Resources, PEL office, Office of Service-Learning, Student Affairs, or the Office of Sustainability.
