IN THIS MONTH'S ISSUE
The Right Start by Tim O'Byrne

The March issue's Remuda column guest, Patrick Hooks, put together an easy to read little handbook titled 101 Ranch Horse Tips. There's a numbered tip on every right-hand page, and a photo to go with it on the left. I got to know Patrick a bit lately, and I think you'll be interested in what he has to say about the "right" way to get a young horse started on the road to being a productive ranch horse. Read More

by Shelley Jones
 | | Shelley Jones on Lacee holding one down at a Home Ranch branding. |
Hi, everyone, we are the Jones's and we work for Duval Ranching Company. We live in northern Nevada at the north end of Ruby Valley in Elko County. The Duval Ranch was established in the late 1800s and was recently honored with the Centennial Award for continuous operation in the same family for over 100 years. Handed down from generation to generation the company is now owned and operated by Don Duval, his wife Grace, and Don's brother Sim Duval with his wife, Dee. Read More

BLOGOSPHERE
Bastogne Heifers by Brett Haas

Well, it looks as if my dreams of a brown winter fell short along with the long-term winter forecasts of a few local weathermen. It was looking good for a while there. I guess I did get my brown Christmas. Heck, I even got to get away after chores on Christmas day to spend some time with my side of the family. Last year it was about two weeks after the fact that we made it down to my mom's. Yeah, compared to last year this Old Man hasn't been that bad. Read More
