London at night
Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Piccadilly Circus, Hyde Park, and the British Museum are but a few of the sights awaiting you in London.  A center of culture and learning, the city offers history and pageantry, museums, tea shops, the Hard Rock Café, and shopping at Harrods's or Selfridge's.  Visit, if you dare, the Traitors Gate and the Bloody Tower at the fortress known as the Tower of London. Here, the beefeaters immerse you in history and lore while afterwards you may view the fabulous Crown Jewels.  No trip to London is complete without an evening at the renowned London Theater viewing a premier production.

Further your discoveries by exploring fascinating sites nearby on simple day excursions such as Stonehenge, Bath, Windsor Castle, Hampton Court Palace or Shakespeare's birthplace in Stratford Upon Avon.  Embark on an adventure of solving the maze at Leeds Castle or visit Canterbury made famous by Chaucer's Canterbury Tales.  Whether your passion is castles or culture, London invites everyone to discover her majesty and mystery.

AN AMERICAN JOURNEY-A LOOK INTO OUR HISTORY NOW AND THEN!

From guided tours and sports to personal sightseeing, or just relaxing,

New York City
New York City

New York City is the place to be.  Central Park is New York's backyard; one of its favorite attractions, the Carousel, is visited by over 250,000 riders each year.  You may enjoy ice skating at Rockefeller Center and the famous Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade during the fall, Fashion Week in February, or a basketball game at Madison Square Gardens. Stroll down Fifth Avenue to enjoy shopping, which is exciting in any season.  You may wish to visit the Empire State Building or take a ferry ride to see the Statue of Liberty, with its famous inscription, "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free," which was the first symbol of America's mission.

New York City is also a leading national center for art, music and literature, as portrayed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Metropolitan Opera Company, large publishing houses and Broadway theatres.

Bright lights, big city!!!  You will discover that there is something for everyone in New York City.

What is your favorite destination and why?
Every destination has its charms. Perhaps my favorite city is Bruges, Belgium. Its an amazingly charming city.  A special higlight were the free samples at The Chocolate Museum - everyone really loved that!

Of all the services EATours offers, what is it you most like, and why?
The company always has good local guides like Christine in Paris that has
Steve Patrick with participants from his group in Florence, Italy
Steve Patrick w/ students Florence, Italy
guided us three times. "Ooh la la!" is her favorite tag line.  The local restaurants the company chooses for us feature specialties like the Cacio e Pepe in Rome, outstanding pizza in Florence, and the giant pancakes in Amsterdam. The hotels are usually close to the action, and my group has never been left waiting on the curb.

I started working with Euro-American in 1989. Since that time, I have had the pleasure of leading 12 tours from Forest Lake Academy. Wow, how the years go by!

Although we are a smaller school, company President Tom Barnette treats us like his best customer. The office personnel are helpful and friendly. I've had groups from six to 36, and the planning for whatever size is personal and appropriate. I always recommend  to other teachers that they should "get on board" for a Euro American tour.

What sort of methods do you use for recruiting that other teachers may find helpful to assist in their own recruiting efforts?
We have been most successful using marketing methods that Euro-American provides for us. Euro-American sends out a brochure packet to all the parents/students enrolled in August, then Mr. Barnette comes to our school and takes part in a proactive assembly with the students.  After the assembly, any students who want more information gives Euro-American their name and they get a personal invitation.  Euro-American handles the mailings, all I have to do is provide the labels for the students as well as a copy of our school letterhead and envelope.  The mailing goes out as it would if it were from the school.

What destination(s) do you plan on traveling to in the future?
This spring we are planning to go to London and Paris. The Eurostar chunnel train is a great experience.  I am excited for our students to see The Tower of London, British Museum, the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum and Arch of Triumph.

Know Before You Go

Money

Although Traveler's checks are still accepted in many locations, they are not used as frequently as they once were. ATM cards and MC/Visa cards are widely accepted and offer better exchange rates and flexibility.  Although major banks still offer to exchange your currency, debit cards eliminate the need to do so.  Withdrawals in local currency can be accomplished at any conveniently located ATM machine.

Before leaving, check with your bank (debit card) and/or your credit card company on fees regarding foreign transactions and pin number usage.  Be sure to advise your financial institutions you will be traveling abroad as many require a travel notice to be submitted for your debit card to be validated while abroad.

Please be sure you keep a copy of your bank's US contact phone number separate from your card in the event of a lost or stolen card or any other problems that may arise while abroad.

Cell Phones

Check with your cell phone provider prior to departing for your trip abroad.  Most cell phones now DO work overseas but some carriers may still need to activate the phone to do so.

It is much more expensive to make and receive phone calls abroad; check your carriers cost of making and receiving calls, as well as text messages, if you frequently send / receive texts.  Even though you may have an unlimited plan, those plans do not apply when you're traveling overseas.

Airport Guidelines

Please remember TSA (Transportation Security Administration) regulations must be followed at all times.  Please refer to their website for additional details:  http://www.tsa.gov/
