Dear Friends,

I have a habit of forgetting things from time to time. For example, last Sunday I told you the end of my spiritual story, but I didn't tell you the end of my physical story; I had mono. Thanks for a great Sunday together and to those of you who invited friends and family. I continue to believe very strongly that opportunities for all of us to be together are good for us.

I want to give you a progress report on our Interim Season as we
enter this very exciting time. Last Tuesday Session approved, with thanks, the Mission Study from our Mission Study Team. I wrote in our quarterly publication, The Second Press, that this study was coming this fall. Many thanks to our Mission Study Team for a job done well and early!

Session has called a Congregational Meeting for Sunday, September 30, at 10am, for the purpose of electing the Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC). On that day, we will do three very important things:

1. We will thank the Mission Study Team for their good work, and dismiss them with thanks.
2. We will elect the PNC. Over the next few weeks, we will circulate biographical information on the persons being nominated to the PNC in preparation for the meeting.
3. I will give you a report on how I see the Interim Season progressing, up to now and for the near future. I'll try to anticipate some of your questions, but I hope we'll have time for you to ask some as well.

I know that I sound like a metronome in this regard, but I want to continue to challenge you to support this season with a renewed commitment to praying for the church. We need prayer for our Pastor Search, for our continuing ministries and for the future into which God is calling us. We will not succeed by our own strength. Christ working through us will lead us into a fresh, fruitful new season of ministry. I am very excited to see what God will continue to do as we rely upon Him for our strength!

Alleluia!

Dave Bianchin
