Dear Friends,
Last Sunday was a fantastic Sunday to be together! I was moved by the appreciation and warmth you all expressed to Don. It was a great day for Don, and it was also a great day in the life of Second Presbyterian Church. The Mission Study Team is well underway in creating our Mission Study document. Sarah, Dana, Carl, Jeannie, Muriel, Ron and Steve are doing a great job. They are gathering documents that describe the many facets of our church and are writing up descriptions about our facilities, our programs, our stewardship, our membership and our staff. One of the most important aspects of our Mission Study is coming up soon. Beginning July 11, we will hold four Congregational Input Sessions. You'll find the dates, locations and times elsewhere in this ePulse. I would like to stress the importance of these sessions. When the Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC) is elected this Fall, they will be charged with finding the right person to be 2PC's next Senior Pastor. This pastor will lead us into the future, so knowing where we are going is extremely important. The Congregational Input Sessions give you a chance to express what you believe to be the most important priorities for 2PC for the foreseeable future. Your input will help us see where you think we are strong and where you think we are weak. Your input will help identify areas where we need to expand our programming or adjust our priorities. In short, we are asking you to influence what we need to do and where we need to go in the future. Your influence will be heard by the Mission Study Team as they write our Mission Study, by Session as it reviews our Congregational Mission Statement and by the PNC as they draft the Church Information Form (CIF). The CIF is the document potential pastoral candidates will read as they evaluate their interest and "fit" with 2PC. We want to be sure that the sessions are attended by as many people as possible, so your participation is really important. Please make every effort to attend one of the sessions! Alleluia!

Dr. Crittenden's Farewell Plans | Today
This evening, a Last Lecture event with dessert will be in F100A from 6:30-8pm. Pictures of Dr. Crittenden's final service on June 24 are at the end of this newsletter.
2PC Financial Update As of May 31, year-to-date contributions to the operating fund are approximately 8%, or $63,000, less than what was budgeted for this time period. The operating fund covers ministry and missional work, personnel expenses and the maintenance and upkeep of our property. Fulfilling your commitment to giving will help the ministries of 2PC continue uninterrupted throughout the year.
2PC Building Update At their April 2012 meeting, Session approved a Trustees motion to make improvements and repairs to the 2PC campus (see below for breakout). The Trustees contracted with engineer Michael J. Welsh to provide drawings for the needed repairs to the decorative stone cornice at the roofline of Grace Hall. Additionally, drawings will be completed this summer for the removal of the Grace Hall ceiling skylight. This removal will assist with the installation of the new roof. After these drawings are complete, bids will be sought and work will begin in 2013.
Projected projects and allocations based on a $1.3 million budget:
*Grace Hall 50% - $650,000 *Capen Building 20% - $260,000 *Fellowship Hall 10% - $130,000 *Maintenance Fund 20% - $260,000 Thank you for your continued faithfulness to the Let Your Light Shine capital campaign. If you have any questions, please contact 2PC elder Mark Sprague.
