RAA Monthly Membership Update- August- Shake, Rattle & Roll Edition!
RAA has survived an earthquake and a tropical storm during the past week, and we hope that all of our airline and associate members weathered the storm without any significant damage.  As summer draws to a close, RAA is pleased to announce the 2011 Annual Report will be arriving shortly and includes updated statistics and airline and associate member information for North America's regional aviation community. 
Also, RAA staff and convention sponsors just returned from Minneapolis for a site visit for the RAA 2012 Convention!  Minneapolis is a great city and they are pretty much handing over the city to our 1,500 attendees!  If you haven't signed up already, or want more information on exhibiting in 2012, click

By piggybacking our Fall Meeting with this first ever "Airport & Regional Airline Executive Summit", leaders from airlines and communities from across the country will share best practices on how to address safety, security, environmental and operational issues--and how to preserve efficient, economic scheduled service to the more than 600 communities served by regional airlines.

Director, Safety & Technical Affairs

The Regional Airline Association (RAA)

represents North American regional airlines, and the manufacturers of products and services supporting the regional airline industry before Congress, Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), and other federal agencies. RAA provides a wide array of technical support, education, communications, advocacy, government and public relations services. Consider this. Our Director, Safety & Technical Affairs will work on some of the most important projects in the aviation industry.  Regional Airlines make up over 50% of the nation's daily flights and 40% of domestic airline fleet.  If you have a background in regulation compliance and would like to ensure RAA members are kept abreast of all regulatory changes and best practices, and would like to be involved in educating federal regulators on industry issues and concerns, take the first step and apply now. Become someone special. Right now we are looking for an aviation safety and regulatory professional who wants to apply their excellent interpersonal, communication and project management skills to advancing the safety and regulatory agenda of our members.

  • Representing association membership at a range of government and aviation industry meetings.
  • Supporting and planning activities, meetings, and seminars for regional airline executives and managers.
  • Collecting input and preparing responses to FAA regulatory proposals and other regulatory initiatives, including coordination with other industry associations and stakeholders.
  • Monitoring and reviewing all federal regulatory sources, including Federal Register, for regulations and proposed rules impacting regional airlines.

 Qualifications:      The successful candidate will also demonstrate the following qualities:  

  •  Outstanding communicator with impactful and clear written and oral  communication skills
  • Effective planning and organization skills utilizing technology and/or project/time management tools
  • Ability to review, process and analyze technical information
  •  Working knowledge of aviation, and/or airline practices and methods preferred
  •  Background in business regulatory affairs and/or technical environment a plus
  •  Self-motivated but able to work in collaborative, consensus building association setting
