In the last week's survey , we asked our readers-  Do you ask your clients to sign a contract before work starts. A contract with your terms and conditions to protect you against payment default?

No  - 4%  

Surpringly some people do not ask clients to sign a contract against your terms and conditions. Many of our respondents do not offer a comment, they only send a yes or no. Pity as we would like to have published some comments from the 4% that ticked No to see their reasoning. 

• Of course you do---what idiot wouldn't ?
• It is extremely important from the start to ensure that all bases are covered in order that the job goes smoothly with the end result being that customer gets what they want and you get paid for the job.
• Silly survey as we all do, I'm sure.
• We have a section on the quote form, where the client can accept the quote. Only those clients with a credit account, can pay on 20th month following, otherwise it is Cash/Cheque/Credit Card up front when they uplift the goods, and yes they agree in writing to these terms before we print.
• It is important that we ask clients no matter how long the company has been a client, to get a signature against our terms and conditions, not theres. Most people don't like asking for money or signatures but you musn't fall into this trap.
• This survey would have been better phrased if you asked how many people have lost money due to the lack of a signed document. We have and I am sure many others have too due to shortcuts in the signing of a contract.
