• I doubt the average user would have long term issues, but I do know some who are sensative to chemicals and have had issues. I'd think with the machines in use, the amount there are, and all the environments we find them in, we'd see issues raised by now. I know several screen printers from old, some have lung issues, but others are still going strong after the same amount of time in the industry as the others. So I guess it depends on the persons general health in the first instance. If it wasn't ink fumes it would probably be something else.
• Like many of modern society innovations there is a large degree of the unknown and time is proving many times over that many of these new 'ideas and products' have not had enough research done before being introduced or that the research is proving incorrect in assumptions.  
• I am far more concerned with the UV inks.  Reading the safety data sheet UV is far more harmful than solvent.
• There has been much talk of the potential for problems but we haven't had any cases reported - at least as far as I know.
• There has been many reports that the solvent inks are carcenegenic, but where is the evidence. You would think that we would have heard of this evidence.
• There are both short and long term issues with solvent inks. The solvent can enter your body via breathing the fumes as well as direct contact. People should avoid physical contact with the ink and employ an air extracting device that captures the fumes before they are released into the environment. I am amazed that the government has not legislated that these devices are compulsary - same as asbestos.
• Eco solvents are even more dangerous since they hide the smell yet contain much the same chemicals.
• I don't know. I do know that if you smell it often you can get a bit 'high' - same as the glue sniffers.
