Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra Presents
Every month, MJO features two different high school jazz ensembles in concert at Dazzle! Playing the second and third Monday of each month (with some exceptions), the school plays one set followed by a set from MJO. The big finale includes both bands on stage featuring soloists from both groups. One of MJO's missions is to support jazz in the schools and this program, in our 6th year, continues to be wildly successful. Reservation ALWAYS recommended at Dazzle (303-839-5100). Fort Collins Symphony Search for Executive Director

Duties and Responsibilities
The Executive Director serves as the Chief Operating Officer of the Fort Collins Symphony Association, and reports to the Board of Directors through the Board President. To achieve the orchestra's mission, the Executive Director is responsible for fund raising, marketing and promoting community relations. Additionally, the Executive Director is accountable for managing the human and financial resources of the Symphony establishing administrative and strategic planning and implementing the policies set by the Board of Directors. He/she will work with the Music Director to develop and implement the Fort Collins's Symphony's commitment to excellence in artistic creation and in engaging the individuals it serves. The Executive Director will oversee the development of an annual operations master plan, prepare and submit for approval annual operating budgets, prepare monthly financial statements and assure accurate books of accounts are maintained. The Executive Director will maintain and supervise the business office and engage and evaluate staff. He/she will successfully negotiate and implement the working agreement with the musicians, build strong working relationships with the members of the Orchestra as well as area arts organizations, community leaders and funding organizations.

Requirements
The successful candidate will possess great confidence and communication skills, be creative, imaginative and visionary. The candidate shall have excellent knowledge and experience of fiscal management, has the ability to increase both earned and contributed income, and has an understanding of institutional image building, marketing, fund development and a deep appreciation of and passion for music. It is preferred that the new Executive Director have employment experience at a senior level in the performing arts or related industry.

Committee Members Needed for Ballet and Denver Center Attractions

DMA is looking for committee members to serve on 5-member contract negotiation committees for both Colorado Ballet and for Denver Center Attractions. Eligibility requirements are simply that you have been employed by the respective employer for at least one production over the past 24 months and that you are a Member in Good Standing with the DMA.

We hope to have both committees in place before the start of the year. Please contact Pete Vriesenga (pvriesenga@aol.com or 303-573-1717) if you're interested in serving on this committee. Elections will be held if more than 5 members are interested in serving. Per DMA policy, all committee members shall receive a waiver of periodic dues ($149 total) for 2011.

If the federal budget deficit commission's preliminary plan is an accurate blueprint for the commission's final report due Wednesday, millions of jobs are at stake.
