Take a hike...literally!
If your dog enjoys the outdoors and the weather is warm enough, a hike could be one activity to consider doing with your dog. Before going on a hike with your dog, it is important that your dog be up to date on flea, tick, and heartworm vaccines. Sprinks recommends bringing an extra collar/leash, doggie waste bags, water, food or treats (depending on the length of your hike), a photo of your pet (in case you become separated), and basic first aid supplies for your dog. Also, remember to research the area you want to go hiking thoroughly so that you are aware of any existing pet policies and areas where dogs are prohibited. |

Hit the beach
Feeling like a trip to the beach? If you're up to take your dog with you, the first step is to find a dog approved beach see if it is an off leash beach. Once you've found a dog friendly beach, grab a few of Fido's favorite toys, a doggie water bowl, and some water for your dog. If you plan on letting your dog swim, also consider bringing a towel to dry him off! For a list of dog beaches near you, click here. |
