Summer Events for Pets & People
Paint the town red with Fido!
As the temperature increases for the summer season in San Diego, so do the amount of pet friendly opportunities around the city. Yappy Hour, Mutt Mingling, Dog Days of Summer, and even Surf Dog Surf-a-Thon are some of the events taking place around the city this summer. Events such as Yappy Hour or Singles, Cocktails & Canines give dog lovers a chance to interact with one another in a fun, light-hearted environment, and also allow for dogs to become more socialized, or better yet-make a new friend. Other events such as Woofstock (in May) or Dog Days of Summer often showcase a number of vendors which can help to educate the public about different kinds of services and products that are offered to pets. Both types of events raise money for organizations centered around pets. FOCAS (Friends of County Animal Shelters) and CCI (Canine Companions for Independence) are a fraction of the organizations that benefit from these events. Last month we were fortunate to be one of the vendors at Dogtown and FOCAS hosted event: Singles, Cocktails & Canines. Coming up next month on August 14 (that's a Saturday) Sprinks will be at the Cardiff Dog Days of Summer. Come join us for a fun day of dog contests, custom pet products, and animal adoptions! Also, don't forget there are plenty of dog friendly beaches and parks around the city that you can take your dog. A few of our Sprinks favorites are:
Fiesta Island. Located in Mission Bay, this sandy island features an ideal leash-free park for dogs. A total distance of 5.2 miles around,Fiesta Island offers sand dunes and of course, the bay for swimming. The beautiful view and fun you can have with your dog here will leave you wanting to come back again...and again.
 Morley Field. Located on the east side of Balboa Park, Morley Field serves as an enjoyable park for canines and their owners. This grassy field and fenceless park combine together to make for the perfect spot to play fetch with your dog.
Coronado Dog Beach. Located in scenic Coronado, Coronado dog beach is on the very northern end of the beach and right next to the Naval Air Station. Equipped with a water fountain and hose near the entrance to rinse your dog off, Coronado Dog Beach is a dog's paradise.
Ocean Beach-Dog Beach. One of the hot spots for dogs in San Diego, OB-Dog Beach is the original dog beach of San Diego. Located at the west end of the San Diego River Floodway, this dog beach offers plenty of sand, and best of all, the gorgeous ocean for your dog to play and cool down in.
