NEW YEAR'S DAY GUIDED HIKE
Celebrate the New Year at Tolay Lake Regional Park in Petaluma. Join us on a 4+ hour guided hike on Saturday, January 1, 2011 starting at 10:00 am. Hike with staff from the ranch up to the east ridge to look for raptors and enjoy breathtaking views of the San Francisco Bay Area.
This hike follows sections of trail with uneven footing and is not for inexperienced hikers; you must be in good physical condition. Learn about this incredible property and its history, and the Day Use Permit Program. � Wear sturdy boots, long sleeves and long pants on this hike. � Bring a hat and sun screen. � Bring adequate water and food for your party, as these will not be provided. � Walking sticks or trekking poles are useful. � Although children are welcome on the tours, please note that the terrain on the walk is too rugged for most strollers. � Dogs allowed on 6' leash. Note: tall grass may contain fox tails. � A restroom will be available at the starting location of the hike.
Hiking tours allow a limited number of participants, and reservations are required. Please call Tolay Lake Regional Park at (707) 789-9644 to make a reservation, and leave a message including: � Your name � Phone number � Email address (or mailing address) � Number of people in your vehicle After requesting the reservation, you will receive a confirmation via phone. Inclement weather will cancel the tour. A message with information regarding the current status of the tour (to go on as scheduled, or not) will be available at (707) 789-9644 the morning of the tour. Hike route may be changed based on flood conditions.

TWO-DAY EVENT FOR NORTH BAY START-UPS LaunchPad, a new resource for San Francisco North Bay start-up entrepreneurs hosted by The 10X Group, in partnership with the Small Business Development Center at Santa Rosa Junior College, is scheduled for January 28 & 29, 2011. Overcoming the information overload facing a new entrepreneur and the hurdles of getting funding in today's tough economy are the goals of LaunchPad. With the help of fifteen recognized North Bay business experts, the two-day event will feature presentations, panel discussions, group activities and networking sessions on key topics such as business planning, securing funding, financial management, intellectual property, web marketing, sales and leadership. LaunchPad is designed to be more than a single event for entrepreneurial education. It can be the first step toward successfully obtaining an SBA loan or angel funding. LaunchPad partners include the Sonoma Mountain Business Cluster, Dominican University's Green MBA program and the City of Santa Rosa. It is limited to 35 participants and is being held at the Mark West Lodge and Event Center on Calistoga Road in Santa Rosa.
