Can you believe it?  The fall calendar is filling up and Christmas isn't far behind!  My prayer for you is that you will be able to find several moments of refreshment and renewal in the next few days as preparation for all that the fall will bring.  Here are several items that can assist you.  Blessings to you as you begin a new season of music and ministry!

Gloria Deo Early Bird Registration Ends Tomorrow!

Plans are well underway for an exciting Virginia Baptist Church Music conference at Derbyshire Baptist Church in Richmond, September 29 - October 1, in conjunction with Pine Lake Music in Decatur GA.  Clinicians will include Joseph Martin, Mark Patterson, Pepper Choplin and Molly Ijames.  EarlyBird registration is $89 if you register by August 26.  After August 26, registration rises to $109 per person.  To register or for more information, check out Gloria Deo.  The conference begins on Thursday evening with a free workshop/clinic for all Adult Choir members.  Conference music and purchase information is listed on the above web site. Student and spousal rates are also available. 

Reading sessions will contain the "Best of the Best" from Pine Lake's 2011 conferences, and there will be a stellar list of breakouts. We hope you'll join us!

Free Adult Choir Member Workshop and Worship Concert

 We hope that you and your choir members will join us for a free Adult Choir workshop on Thursday, September 29 at 7:00 PM at Derbyshire Baptist Church led by our Gloria Deo composer-clinicians.  The Worship Concert will be held at the same location at 7:00 PM on Friday, September 30.

Fall Handbell Festival Coming October 29

 Join us at Second Baptist Church in Richmond on October 29 for a wonderful day of learning and preparing handbell selections for the Thanksgiving, Advent and Christmas seasons.  Mary Kay Parrish, composer and former professor at Oklahoma Baptist University will be our clinician.   Music Choices are below:

All-State Band and Strings Groups to Debut in 2012

Our newest groups, the Virginia Baptist All-State Band and the Virginia Baptist All-State Strings will perform for the first time on April 27-28, 2012, at the First Baptist Church of Charlottesville. Doug Smith (retired Professor, Southern Seminary) and Charles Priest (Bluefield College) will be our directors.

The All-State audition information and application process for all groups will be available by September 12. Watch All-State Info  for more information.

 

Virginia Baptist Women's Chorale to Sing

You are invited to join the Virginia Baptist Women's Chorale in a Worship Concert on Saturday, September 24 at Hermitage Baptist Church, Middlesex County, VA at 6 PM
9/11 Remembrance Services

If you are planning a special service commemorating 9/11 and have meaningful elements that you would like to share with others around the state, send them to me electronically and I will be glad to share your contributions via our website.

A special set of congratulations and best wishes are due to Alan and Mary Beth Miller on the birth of their twins in July.  We also congratulate Bill Miller as he celebrates his 25th anniversary at Second Baptist Church in Richmond on September 25.
