Courage and Movement, that's my job and the stuff of Borderless Broads!
- In the movie "Burlesque", actor Stanley Tucci delivered this bit of wisdom: "every opportunity has a shelf life".
- And....here's the gist of what author Elizabeth Gilbert said during a TED talk (ted.com). The muse comes to us (opportunity) at the oddest times, we might be hanging the laundry (well, some people still do that) or while walking along the beach and if we don't reach out and grab the inspiration and act on it, it will simply move on to someone else who is "awake to hear and ready to act" on the idea, the brainstorm, the thing that just might change everything... for you, for us.
- And...on the back cover of my book: Borderless Broads, New Adventures for the Midlife Woman, you will see:
Come to the cliff [she] said.
No, we are afraid.
Come to the cliff [she] said.
They came. [She] pushed them
And they flew!!
(Stuart Wilde)
So here's my testimony to courage and movement:
I am taking a leap, grabbing the muse, vigilantly moving faster and more courageously than the fleeting shelf life of things.......
I just made a major (for me) financial investment in a marketing team to propel me and my book further out into the world.
GO BORDERLESS, [she said].
Oh, I had days of angst and "should I?" and "what if it's a bust?".......and a 2AM vigil with my scarcity fears. Then I did some thought work (Byron Katie's genius) and turned worry and what ifs into a new thought, a new belief, that I really could buy into because it felt like truth for me.
Here it is:
"When I expand my visibility and outreach, new sources of income show up."
Is this as true or truer than my scarcity fears? You bet it is! In other words, the muse was saying "hey, you borderless broad, take a leap!" It helped. I went to sleep....
The next morning I looked out over the cliff, signed the contract and now....
I anticipate a great flight!
Being a borderless broad is not just a catchy concept. It is an active way of living life full out, moving through all the artificial borders we have come to believe are unchangeable and worthy of a daily polishing like prize furniture!
Courage and movement, these are the watchwords for a borderless state of mind.
Leap, Laugh & Launch are the action steps!
- What cliff are you looking over? What will it take for you to leap?
- What great dream in your life is approaching its shelf life?
(Remember contrary to the American way of things, the dream isn't always some business thing or money thing-there are greater gods to dance with like deeper intimacy with just about everything and feeling absolutely blissed out on life!)
- Is the muse hovering while you brush your teeth or drive the freeway?
Oh, go ahead, reach out and grab her.
If not now, when?
What say you?
