TranslinkTransLink officials got an earful from City of North Vancouver councillors when they came to introduce a new round of North Shore transit planning. Planning director Brian Mills and planning manager Jim Prokop came before council to describe the process to develop a new North Shore Area Transit Plan, one of several sub-regional plans that are reviewed on a 10-year cycle. AnavetsThe aging buildings operated by the Anavets Senior Housing Society along East 3rd in North Vancouver are finally going to be rebuilt. After listening to concerns from neighbours about the height of the proposed buildings which exceeded the current regulation by about 4 feet, City Council determined that the project was in the best interest of the community. MoneyCanada fared relatively well during the global crisis, as a result of good policy and, in retrospect, some good fortune, Bank of Canada Governor Mark Carney said in a speech to the International Center for Monetary and Banking Studies in Geneva, Switzerland. In his remarks, the Governor examined the attributes that helped the Canadian financial system weather the storm and that are now being incorporated into new global regulatory and supervisory standards.
