Joel SatoreAt the foundation of each day's events at the WCA Annual Conference are the daily general assemblies, which bring together all attendees to hear from local, state and federal speakers on relevant topics.

The first general assembly kicks off Sunday, September 26th at 2:00 p.m. and will feature this year's keynote speaker, Joel Sartore, a contributing photographer for National Geographic magazine. Monday's general assembly will run from 10:00 a.m.-11:45 a.m.  The third and final assembly will be held Tuesday, September 28th from 8:30 a.m.-10:15 a.m.  Stay tuned to WCA eNews for a full listing of speakers.
Concurrent Workshops

There will be concurrent workshops held Monday, September 27th through Tuesday, September 28th.

These workshops are one of the most important elements of the conference and this year's topics feature timely issues such as criminal justice reform, alternative fuels and green energy, overcoming budget constraints, census updates and redistricting, and privatization.

The role of agriculture in Wisconsin's counties has always been strong.  Because of this, WCA is proud to present two separate tours held in conjunction with the annual conference.

At the special request of Milwaukee County, WCA Conference attendees are invited to take a tour of Growing Power, a two-acre urban farm, on Monday, September 27, 2010.  This national non-profit organization and land trust supports people from diverse backgrounds and living environments.  Growing Power's mission is to provide equal access to healthy, high-quality, safe and affordable food for people in all communities.

Sunset Farms, Inc. of Allenton, Wisconsin is a multi-family farm corporation owned and operated by the Wolf family since 1847.  Albert and Mildred Wolf's farm strives to be a progressive business, providing high-quality agricultural products and civic involvement through its employees and families.  This tour is brought to attendees by the Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin.

Anyone who is a county official delegate is welcome to attend the Growing Power tour Monday, September 27, 2010 from 2:15-3:45 p.m. or the Sunset Farms, Inc. tour on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 from 8:15-11:15 a.m.  For either tour, WCA must receive the RSVP, which is on the conference registration form, no later than August 2, 2010 to be included.  Space is limited and registration is on a first-come, first serve basis.
