Plants are a great way to naturally change the look of your ad over time and create a site worthy of a second look.

Indoors or outdoors, here are a few hints to help as you consider a similar project:

  • What city and time of year will you be posting? New York in January or Arizona in July would not be ideal options.
  • What building or board is available for your project? The direction it's facing will help determine the types of plants available for use, watering and feeding cycles and more. .
  • Is there a direct water source at the site? A pump or reservoir system may be necessary.
  • How long will the board be posted and need to be maintained?
  • What is your creative vision for this project?

Green with Ivy Sierra Mist ivy board

Mother Nature Meets Billboard in our first "Living Billboard"...       This board was created with live ivy plants, which was no easy task.  For this board, the 18' Sierra Mist can was fabricated as a curved cutout, which was stood off from the board.  Waterlines were hidden behind the can and further camouflaged with plants along the edges.  Over 3,000 plants were inserted into individual fabric pockets and hung on vertical frames. This location did not have a water source so a watering reservoir and pump system were built to pump water and food to the plants at pre-programmed times.

Absolut Lemon

Who wouldn't want a drink in a comfy chair, while waiting for the bus, after a long day at work?  The traditional bus benches inside the bus shelters were removed and replaced with real chairs retrofitted, custom decorated and weather-proofed for the three Absolut flavors; Twist (Green), Bloody (Red), Lemon (Yellow).     The lemon shelters also displayed fake foliage and lemons on the shelter's rooftop.  Ahhh...

The perfect afternoon snack!  The giant sculpted basket measured 23' x 12'.  The fruit and vegetables are much larger than life, measuring 14' wide.  The best way to make the fruit look realistic was to custom print the images on fabric and create inflatables.  Makes me hungry just looking at it.
