While you are celebrating our liberty and freedom, please consider service to your Town.  A number of Boards and Commissions seats become vacant in September and we need your voice and energy (details below)!  Meanwhile, tonight Council meets (special session and workshop) and you are invited to attend.

Pool Information

 

SCE&G/SCANA has graciously extended the use of the Sand Dunes Pool for Island residents.  Pool hours are Wednesday-Friday from 12Noon-8PM.  Fee is $2/person per visit.

Independence Day: Wednesday, July 4, 2012

Independence Day Celebrations 

 9AM Golf Cart & Bike Parade

Kick off Independence Day with this resident favorite.  Golf carts and bikes line up at 8:30AM (front of Fire Station) for the 9AM parade (Click for more information). 
        
5:30PM Fireworks in the Park
Bring your blanket or chair to the annual evening celebration of America's Independence at J. Marshall Stith Park. Highlights include the Shem Creek Boogie Band and fireworks (Click for more information).
Town Services Notes - Independence Day
Town Hall will be closed on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 for Independence Day.  All offices will re-open for regular business at 8AM on Thursday, July 5, 2012.
Essential services will continue through the holiday and those departments will remain fully staffed.

Beach Access Improvements
 
beachwalkerThe Town continues work toward improving access for all beach lovers.  Thanks to grant funding and Council approved financial support, the Town has improved beach access at Stations 18, 19, 24 and 28 by extending existing boardwalks.  For our handicapped beach visitors, the Town has added a marked parking space at Station 18 beach access and improved the boardwalk approach.  The Town also has a beach wheelchair available for your use (first come/first serve).  Contact Town Hall (843) 883-3198 to reserve the wheelchair or for more information.
