Community Garden
Sullivan's Island residents have started a community garden located in front of Battery Gadsden, not far from the Library (1921 I'On Ave) or the Cultural Center.  Boxes have been constructed and planting is underway.  Volunteers and contributions are welcome, and special spots are reserved for children.  If you would like to help, contribute or get more information, contact Carlsen Huey by email at hueyjc@yahoo.com

Yard Notes & Tips

Doing yard work? Keep these guidelines in mind:

RIGHTS-OF-WAY: No plants, fences, structures  or obstructions are allowed in the right-of-way.
NO PLASTIC BAGS: Charleston County accepts
clippings in paper bags but will no longer collect items in plastic bags.
CUT limb sizes down: 4 feet or less
PACE YOURSELF: Town Contractor, Suburban Disposal, can only pick up small piles of yard debris from each home each week.  Put out small piles each week to ensure it all gets picked up.
CURB IT: Yard debris is placed at the end of your curb on Tuesday evening for pick-up on Wednesdays.
CONTRACTORS: Carry it away.
If you hire a landscape contractor, the contractor must haul away the debris.
NOTE: Suburban Disposal does not pick up yard debris on vacant lots or on lots where it appears a contractor has worked.
